First Group to
France
The history of aviation in Thailand started
during the reign of King Rama VI.
The First Flying demonstration by Mr.Charles
Van Den Born form Belgium in Bangkok on 6
th February 1911 at Sra Pathum Airfield.
Thai Government sent 3 Army officers to
Flying training in France on 28 th February
1911, and went back to setting Aviation
section in 1913.
The First Flying demonstration by Thai Pilots
on December 29 th ,1913.

Mueang for Army Air Corps.

Civil Aviation Training Center 4 June
1961
Civil Aviation Training Center, Thailand (CATC)
was established on 4 June 1961 as a cooperative project
between the United Nations Special Fund (UNSF), the
International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and the
Royal Thai Government under the name of the Civil
Aviation Training Center in Thailand.
The objective of this project, which operated
from 1961-1965, was to develop and upgrade civil aviation
in the Southeast Asia region, bringing it up to the
standards as stipulated by ICAO in accordance with the
ICAO Annexes to the Convention on International Civil
Aviation.
At present, CATC is a state enterprise
under the Ministry of Transport.
