GENERAL TEST CONDITIONS
a. Test Environment
No specific environmental condition for the test. Ambient conditions are not controlled and are just
noted for record purposes.
b. Power Supply
Power supplied on the measuring instrument and test units was regulated and maintained at 230 Volts
AC ±2%.
c. Measuring Instruments
Electrical parameters (voltage, current, power) were measured using Power Quality Analyzer (PQA) LEM
Memobox 300. Ambient temperature and water temperature were determined using thermocouple J/K.
both thermocouple were connected into Tektronix DTM 920 digital thermometer.

Where:
(a) Energy consumed by the equipment for a period of one (1) hour at high settings using boiling water test method.
Energy consumed by induction heat cooker measured using power quality analyzer. Energy consumed by LPG
Stove measured using LPG consumed (kg) converted into kWh by its energy equivalent 2
(b) Efficiency computed using formula = (Energy of boiling water/Energy consumed by the equipment) x 100% 3
(c) Cost per hour computed using the formula: Cost per hour = (a) x Electricity Rate 4
(d) Cost per day computed using the formula : Cost per day = (c.) x no. of hours/day 5
(e) Cost per month computed using the formula : Cost per month = (d) x frequency per week 6x 4 weeks
(f) Percent Savings by using induction heat cooker instead of LPG Stove computed using the formula (%) = (Cost per
month LPG – Cost per month induction heat) / Cost per month LPG x 100%
(g) Savings per month by using induction heat cooker instead of LPG Stove, computed using the formula (Savings
PhP/mo) = Cost per month LPG Stove – Cost per month induction heat cooker

Converted based on heat equivalent of LPG by the manufacturer. In case there is none, standard conversion will apply  heat
equivalent of LPG = 46.1 Mega Joules /kg; 1 kWh = 3.6 Mega Joules
3
Energy Efficiency of LPG Stove = (Energy of boiling water/Energy from spent fuel (LPG)) x 100% where Energy of boiling water is
thermodynamically determined thru universal known formula Energy (Q) =mC(T2-T1)  mass of water x specific heat of water x
change in temperature converted into kWh by 1 joule = 0.0000002778 kWh. Energy of spent fuel based on heat equivalent of LPG by
the manufacturer. In case there is none, standard conversion will be applied
Energy Efficiency of induction heat cooker = (Energy of boiling water/Energy consumption of the equipment) x 100%
4
Electricity Rate used is 2013 effective rate of P10.97/kWh
5
No. of hours/day = 1 hour (Based on Consumer Panel Research-Appliance Ownership and Usage)
6
Frequency per week = 7 days (Based on Consumer Panel Research-Appliance Ownership & Usage)
