Morrone and Waller Go Back to Back as Champions of the OBC’s
5th Annual Fundraiser at LaCygne.
The use of the Bass Pass over the past 2 years should no longer be considered an
experiment. It has made this annual event a lot of fun for all teams competing.
This year we had 11 boats/teams. The club
earned $240, while the other $240 along with
$120 in big bass money was up for grabs. 10 of
the 11 teams weighed in 104.39lbs of bass! 34
keepers were caught for an average of 3.07 lbs/
bass. The winners in back-to-back years now
and for the 3rd time overall as champions of this
event were Pete Morrone and Bob Waller with
a 5 fish limit for 19.2 lbs. Big Bass was a whopping 7.71 lbs by Bob “F'in” Waller. In addition, 3 other bass over 6 lbs were brought to the scales! 6.13 lbs by Ed “I Can”
Reed – 6.05 lbs by Richard “Well Hung” Young – 6.03 lbs by Phil “My Favorite”

TOURNAMENT
DIRECTOR:

Frank Flack had 12 locations that he hit several times during the day. These spots were
either select standing timber areas that he
pitched a Zoom Old Monster worm to or deep
water brush piles that he casted a 10” worm
or football head jig to. Most of the trees that
he pitched to were in 12-20 feet of water and
the brush piles were in 12-18 feet of water.

Flack and Reed Manage a Victory After a
Foggy Start to Melvern Tournament
The team of Flack and Reed finished in 1st place after the delayed start
due to intense fog. They targeted three shallow areas that were holding
good largemouth and had some main lake points that were holding
smallies. Keepers were caught on topwater, squarebill, and jigs. They
lost a 3+ largemouth and a 4+ smallmouth on a point on the northside
of the lake.
The team of Richards and Petrey came in 2nd place. They caught their
fish shortly after the trolling motor start. Richards caught his fish on a
sexy shad square bill about 5 feet from the bank. Petrey had his fish
about 30 minutes later. After that, many short fish were caught but
only ranged in the 13-14 inch range.
