In 1914 an average person made a salary of $800 a year, had 4.5 people living in their house,
had a life expectancy of 53 years, was not a High School graduate and had a 50-50 chance of
even having gone to a formal school.
The population of the U.S. was just under 97 million, 90% were of European descent, only
8% of homes had telephones, the average speed limit in cities was 10 mph, there
were about 10,000 cars in the entire country and fewer than 500 miles of paved roads, 9 in

Calendar Highlights Think of what 1914 was like. Compare it to where we are today. Try to imagine what our
way of life might be like in another 100 years. For instance I'm composing this on a machine
that looks like a typewriter. In 2114 that may seem as strange as shampooing with egg yolks!

As we conclude the celebration of 100 years as Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, we
continue to write history. As this church family has continued to lift high the cross of our
Savior, Jesus Christ, to proclaim and live his Gospel of love, forgiveness, and salvation, and
to change lives from ordinary to abundant, we have come a long way from what we were in
1914. Pray that our past is only a prelude to what is to come as we move into our second
hundred years of being the Body of Christ in this place.
Live it up! PG
BECAUSE OF YOU...
Have you been watching the board at the turn of the ramp to the sanctuary? Did you attend
the "Ministry Fair?" Have you listened to your fellow members of Kimball witness during
the offering time to what this congregation means in their lives? All of this is to say we are
an active, vibrant and committed church family that is effective in doing Gospel Ministry. It
is to make it very clear BECAUSE OF YOU, your faith, your commitment, your support,
your participation, the work given us by our Lord is carried out. It is to offer evidence our
faith in action brings results.
Kimball is a great church because of you. It will continue to lift high the cross and change
lives because of you.
Recently members received Pledge Cards and Time and Talent Forms to help plan how you
will be a part of this ministry during the coming year. If you haven't yet returned yours,
please do so as soon as possible. Even if you're not sure what kind of financial support
you can provide, please sign and return a Pledge Card to simply say you will respond to
God's gift of his Son to you. If you've misplaced a card or want a form, extras are available
in the office.
And keep watching the board and listening to those witnesses, and BECAUSE OF YOU
Kimball will keep being a thankful, serving and blessed faith-family following Jesus.

Call Committee is
continuing to work
diligently, using the guidelines provided in the
Ministry Site Profile. To
date, they have conducted
22 interviews with 12
candidates and are
continuing to interview.
This team is committed to
take the time needed to find
the candidate who is the
right fit for our
congregation and the one
the God is calling to be our
Pastor. The congregation
also has an important role in
the call process. The
responsibilities of the
congregation are to be
faithful in attendance and
carry on the ministries of
the church, giving of
ourselves and supporting
the church financially, and
to continually pray for
God’s guidance.

Finance
One of the primary goals of the Finance Team in 2013 was to consolidate as many of
our various investment accounts into a single investment program as possible. While
each of the account balances would remain separate and designated in use, by combining the assets into a single investment program, working with our Wells Fargo Advisor,
Kimball saw considerable appreciation of our assets during 2013.
In the summer of 2013 the final transfer of assets to our Wells Fargo Advisory account
was made which brought our invested balance to $419,415. At the end of 2013 this balance had grown to $492,685. While the stock market did have a great upswing in 2013,
and as such these results will be hard to duplicate, we as the Finance Team are very exHomebound Members cited about the new investment approach, and the results we have seen.
