I work on Image Processing and Computer Vision with emphasis to Image Representation and Image Analysis
techniques with applications to object detection, recognition and tracking with a motto of "Humans can see
and recognise, so can Computers".
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
2012-2016
PhD, DIC, Electrical Engineering
Imperial College London, United Kingdom
Communications and Signal Processing Research Group
Research Topic: Image Analysis (Object Detection and Recognition)
Sponsor: BAE SYSTEMS Military Air and Information- UK
2011-2012
MSc, DIC, Communications and Signal Processing
Imperial College London, United Kingdom
Achieved Distinction.
Individual Project: Human Detection and Tracking
Designed and implemented a complete system for human tracking that falls within the recently
developed "tracking by detection" class of approaches, using the well-known Histogram-ofOriented-Gradient descriptor in a combined fashion with a Shape-Context descriptor to detect
humans, when they are placed onto heavily-cluttered complex backgrounds, programmed in
C++/OpenCV/MatLab.
Sponsor: SELEX Galileo Ltd & University Defence Research Centre (UDRC)
2004-2009
BSc, Electronics and Communications Engineering
Mansoura University, Egypt
Achieved Excellent with Honours, ranked 2nd out of 250.
Final Year Project (Group Work): Eye Mouse
Developed a tracking system for eyes and gaze using a webcam to determine location of user’s
iris in relation to the rest of the eye, using this location to position a computer cursor,
programmed in C++/OpenCV.
Sponsor: Intel cooperation -Egypt
2001-2004
Mansoura Experimental Language School (MLS), Egypt
General Secondary Certificate (GSC) (Mathematics section)
Achieved 100%; ranked 74th in whole of Egypt and 1st in Dakahlia Governorate
(Mathematics Section)
