Brig. Gen. Lyn D. Sherlock is an independent consultant drawing on her international and national
security experience following a 30 year military career culminating in her position as Director, Regional
Affairs for the Office of the Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force, International Affairs. In that
capacity, Brig. Gen. Sherlock managed the Air Force’s direct liaison with foreign government officials,
Washington agency counterparts, and aerospace industry representatives to implement Air Force
security cooperation programs. She represented the USAF on both the Delegation to Inter-American
Defense Board and the Joint Mexico-U.S. Defense Commission. Additional key leadership positions
include a Department of State and DoD joint assignment as director of the Office of International
Security Operations.
A command pilot with more than 3,200 flight hours, Brig. Gen. Sherlock served as Commander of the
362nd Air Expeditionary Group at Rheim Main Air Base in Germany directing combat airlift operations in
Iraq. She also served as commander of a base in Southwest Asia responsible for airlift operations in
Afghanistan. She holds a master’s degree in natural resource strategy from the Industrial College of the
Armed Forces and a master’s degree in aeronautical science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
She earned her undergraduate degree at the U.S. Air Force Academy.
Brig. Gen. Sherlock joined the VMF Board of Directors in 2014.
