2014 Baltimore Marathon Pace Team (Updated 9/8/14)

*Dan Miranda: Completed 15 marathons with a PR of 2:44:54 set in 11/2010. He has been pacing races for the last four years including the Frederick Half Marathon, the
Kentucky Derby Marathon, and the Baltimore Marathon. You can find him racing nearly any distance on the roads from 5ks to marathons.
David Ploskonka: A veteran of over 40 marathons (8 Boston Marathon finishes and numerous ultramarathons), his significant running-related accomplishments include a
marathon PR of 2:49:33, and over 134 miles run in a 24-hour period. But the most meaningful accomplishments to him are the ones that help other runners achieve their goals.

*Keith McBride: Completed over 35 marathons and 6 Ironman’s. Paced over 15 marathons and is a 12 time Baltimore Marathon Pacer looking forward to another great run in
his old home town. Works in the medical device field and is the Vice President of Product Development and Global Marketing for Bioness Inc., Valencia, California.
Ritchie Lavene: He has only been marathoning for 9 years (his first was Baltimore 2005) but has accumulated 52 Marathon finishes, and 36 Pacing Jobs. He set a personal PR
at Boston with a 2:59:07 and hopes to still improve that time before father time has something to say about it! He is very familiar with the Baltimore course and even though an
out of towner, considers this race “home”. We will keep things, fun, motivated and accurate to give you your best chance to succeed!
Tunde Morakinyo: He is currently a member of the Howard County Striders racing team and coaches in the Striders Next Step marathon program. He has run over 20
marathons including: Boston, Marine Corps, Chicago, Philadelphia and pacing both the Kentucky Derby and Baltimore Marathons.

*Jaclyn Range: There's no greater high than watching people defy their goals - something she gets to do everyday working for Back on My Feet Baltimore, a nonprofit that uses
running to build strength and confidence in the homeless and recovering populations. Former Division I College athlete & XC/Track & Field Coach. Completed over 15
marathons.
Philip Rupp: Completed over 25 marathons, ultramarathons and 2 Ironmans. In January he ran a PR of 3:01:55 qualifying him for the 2015 Boston Marathon. He is really
excited for this race and is looking forward to helping people achieve their goals.
David Stevenson: Completed 39 marathons (marathon PR of 2:59:03). He can be found running any distance, road or trail, from 5k through ultra-marathon. A graduate of
Virginia Tech, he works as a small animal veterinarian. He is looking to share his love of running by being a pacer and helping others achieve their running goals.
Amy Voiland: She has been running since she was about 8 years old with her father. She has completed 15 marathons and dabbled in triathlons for a few years but mostly bikes
and swims for fun these days. Her big goal this year is to do a 50k with her father out west in her home state: Washington.

*Jon Ober: Struggling with obesity his whole life, Jon made a goal for himself to finish a marathon. In turn, he lost over 100 pounds and completely turned his life around.
Running saved his life and motivated his peers to live a healthier life as well. Now with 11 marathons under his belt and a PR of 3:22, he is happy to return to KDM as a third
year pacer.
Ed Jablonski: Completed 18 marathons, PR of 3:09. Completed 9 Ironman Triathlons including 4 Ironman Hawaii Triathlons. Finisher of over 50 triathlons. Baltimore
Marathon Pacer in 2009-2013, Fredrick Marathon Pacer in 2010, Fredrick Half Marathon Pacer in 2012-2013, Baltimore 10 Miler Pacer in 2012.
Steve Lauria: He has completed 30 road and trail marathons and ultras throughout the U.S. and Europe within the past 11 years. He first paced at the Baltimore Marathon in
2010 and has since paced six other races. His 2013 KDM pace team completed the race within one second of the target time.
Betsy Schultz: She has run over 10 marathons (PR: 3:13) and many, many half marathons and triathlons. Former college basketball player, now an elementary school teacher,
who enjoys sharing the enjoyment of running and exercise by coaching elementary school boys and girls.
Gretchen Vassar: She has run over 15 marathons, qualifying for Boston and New York. She lives and works in Parkton, Maryland with her husband Alan and twin 5 year
olds. Gretchen works as an elementary school counselor for BCPS. She enjoys running, yoga, and spending time with her friends and family.

*Marci Benda: Completed 20 marathons, including Boston and New York ( PR 3:11). A veteran pacer, this will be her eighth year time pacing the Frederick Half marathon
and Baltimore Marathon. Helping others achieve their goals is her motivation for pacing. A former collegiate swimmer, she works part time as a physical therapist and is a full
time mom of two.
Ethan Corle, (Philipsburg, PA): Completed 9 marathons with a Prof 3:19. He is a 3 time veteran Baltimore Marathon pacer and enjoys pacing to meet new runners and help
them to achieve their goals. Outside of running, he is a graduate student at The Pennsylvania State University in the aerospace engineering department.
Alex Fuller: He has run five marathons, two of which were Baltimore Marathons. His marathon PR was 2:59 at the 2014 Boston Marathon. He has also run three 200-mile relay
races. He was part of the team that won the American Odyssey Relay Race in the ultra division (six runners) and set a new course record.
Pamela Geernaert: She has been running for over 25 years, and has completed 17 marathons, many 50K events and 50 milers and a 100K race. Completed the Boston
marathon 4 times. She is currently the President of the Frederick Steeplechasers running club. She loves to run and chat and eat Twizzlers and run!
Seigo Masubuchi (St. Paul, MN): He has completed 46 marathons and more than 20 half marathons since 2001 (PR is at 2:59:21). He has an extensive pacing history though
this will be his first Baltimore Marathon as a pacer. He ran as Mudonna, ping pig mascot (wearing an18 lb costume) for the St. Paul Saints Independent Baseball team at 4:05:23
at the Twin Cities Marathon in 2011.
John Sabatine: He is a member of the Marathon Maniacs and the 50sub4 Marathon Club. He has completed 31 marathons in the last 6 years, including 7 as a pace leader.
Originally from Rochester, NY, John lived in Baltimore from 2003-2004. His favorite quote is from Henry Ford: “whether you think you can do something, or think you cannot
do something, you are probably correct."

*Joshua Reiter: A veteran pacer, he has run numerous half marathons/marathons (PR of 3:30). Known for his rapping skills, you may recognize him from this Baltimore

Carlin: She is married to her high school sweetheart Josh and has 2 daughters. She has run 15 Marathons with as PR of 3:29. She had run in 2 Boston Marathons and plans to
return to Boston in 2015.
Jaime Holmes: A wife and mother of three, she has completed 15 marathons since 2008 including Baltimore four times and Boston in 2010, 2011 and upcoming 2014. She is a
lifelong runner and loves to see others fall in love with the sport and do something they once thought was impossible.
Bob Pikelis: He has completed 11 Marathons, including 2006 Boston and 2010 Pittsburgh. He is a member of the Washington County Road Runners Club. He is a returning
GEICO pacer, having paced in Baltimore for 8 years. Bob has recently retired from Nestle USA and is currently working for Fleet Feet Sports in Pittsburgh, PA. Baltimore is a
challenging course, but if you keep a steady pace you’ll reach your goal.
Stacy Ward: Completed 24 marathons including running Boston 3 times (07, 08, 12), Marine Corp., and San Diego. Stacy is a returning pacer for Baltimore Marathon. Enjoys
running, sports, the beach, and spending time with family and friends. Mother of 2 girls: 3 and 11 months. Works at Coastal Sunbelt Produce in Savage, MD.

*Sara Damiano: Completed 10 marathons (PR: 3:31), including Baltimore, Kentucky Derby, Lehigh Valley, and Richmond. An experienced pacer of events from the 10-miler
to the marathon, she enjoys helping other runners to achieve their goals. A graduate student at Johns Hopkins University.
Joshua Greenberg: After a break from running, he began running again about 10 years ago and has completed over 30 marathons and ultramarathons since then. On the
weekends, he can be found running with his local running group, The Baltimore Pacemakers.
Mary Kanaskie,(Baltimore, MD): Completed 5 marathons in the last 6 years with Baltimore Marathon being her first marathon qualifying for Boston with a time of 3:38. She
also ran the Rosaryville 50K, lots of half marathons, 10Ks,and 5Ks. She has lived in 5 areas of Baltimore city in the last6 years so she knows the streets the marathon run
through like the back of her hand.
Mike Marley: He grew up playing ice hockey but turned his interests to running after college to keep the competitive edge. Since then he has completed multiple marathons
including Baltimore, New York, Marine Corps, Harrisburg, and California International as well as many halfs, Tri's and mud runs.
Dave Orlik: He is RRCA certified, and a running coach since 2008. He has completed over 24 half marathons, 11 marathons (including Boston in 2013), and 4
ultra‐marathons (including one 50 miler). This will be his 9th time as a pacer for marathon and lesser distances.
Meri Smalstig: She has run 12 marathons (including 2-time Boston marathon finisher and 2015 qualifier), 30 half marathons, and countless 10Ks. She is a certified RRCA Run
Trainer and a Mentor for Non-profit Charity Team Train 4 Autism. She is a passionate, energetic and enthusiastic pacer. Her goal is to go add a spirit and zest to race day so it
is a memorable, rewarding and most importantly FUN experience for everyone.
Laveta Stewart: She is a 3-time Baltimore marathon pacer, Lake Placid Ironman finisher and has completed a 50k and 100k trail run in Nepal at high altitude. She loves
running for fun and enjoys cheering on others.

*Tonya Dunn (Faribault, MN) She has been running marathons since 1998. Currently training for Ironman Madison, has one Ironman finish. She is the Director of
Operations/General Manager for a Restaurant Group in Minnesota. She has a wonderful 6 year old son, Emmett, that is already a great runner! She is looking forward to seeing
you on the course.
Muffie Bliss: She has been running half and full marathons since 2007, starting with the Frederick Half. She has run Marine Corp, Chicago, NYC, Philadelphia, Disney (2
times), San Diego, Baltimore, and Shamrock. Pacers throughout all of these races have helped her reach her goals and she looks forward to helping you reach yours.
Randy Hansen: He is an avid runner and triathlete having completed numerous marathons and triathlons including 2 ultra marathons, 2 full Ironmans, and 1 half Ironman with
wife and fellow pacer, Shannon Hansen. He has a lot of pacing experience and is looking forward to helping you reach your goal!
Paul Marquis: He has run more than 45 marathons, two 50-milers, an Ironman, etc.. His PR is a 3:03, but he has found that he gets more enjoyment from helping others achieve
their personal goals. A retired Naval Surface Warfare Officer, commanded an Aegis destroyer, and works now in the defense industry at the Washington Navy Yard.
Dwight Mikulis (Ellicott City, MD): A veteran Pacer. Completed 18 marathons and several ultras including HAT 50K and Stone Mill 50 Mile in 2013. Despite being an “Old
Guy”, he had PRs in 8 different distances in 2013 ranging from 2 miles to 50K. Dwight has paced several marathons coming in within one minute of goal. He also ran the first
new Baltimore marathon in 2001 and has run the current marathon 3 times additionally. You will have a great time and will be on time.
Will Swingle (Eden Prairie, MN):Has completed 13 marathons since taking up running in 2008. His first was Baltimore where he ran with the Geico Pacers and loved every
minute! When he is not running he is teaching Kindergarten in MN. This is his third time pacing the Baltimore Marathon and he looks forward to helping runners meet their
goals and have a blast doing it!
Faye Weaver: She has been a member of the Howard County Striders since 2009, coached and co-coordinated NS FIT/GIRL, 2013 NS 10k/mi and coached NS half/ full
marathon programs. Completed 3 marathons (qualified for Boston 2014), Rosaryville 50k, several half marathons, numerous 10k and 5k races. She was a 2013 Baltimore
Marathon, Frederick Half, and Baltimore 10 Miler pacer, helped pace the Metric Marathon for the past 3 years.

*Judith Weber: She is an endurance runner, has been part of the Baltimore Pacing Team since 2005 and returning to pace at KDM for the 3rd time. When not pacing
marathons, you will find her on trails completing ultra events.
Philip Allen: He is a 45 year old male who served 11 years in the U.S. Army MP Corps and to date 15 years with the Secret Service & Air Marshals Service. I have been
running and biking consistently since 1990 and have completed 10 Marathons in 3:14-3:40, the JFK 50 Miler, one Ironman 70.3, and one Ironman 140.6. I live for the next
workout and work to pay for gear.
Shannon Hansen: She has run over 10 marathons, 2 ultra marathons, and a half-ironman and paced countless races with the team. Recently moving back to Baltimore, she is
looking to help you reach not only finish, but do reach your goal time!
Dave Hopkins: Completed 58 marathons, 7 Ironmans, JFK 50 miler, and Chesapeake Bay Swim twice. Has been pacing for 7 years, and hoping to run the Grand Canyon Rim to
Rim to Rim in May. KDM is an amazing race to have fun in a pace group, please join us!!
Shalynn Howard: A runner who enjoys training in all weather conditions and in all environments. Has raced a variety of distances from 5 and 10k's to marathons and ultra
marathons. Has paced for the Howard County Striders in Columbia, MD and will be coaching the Striders Next Step program in the Spring.
Patrick Range (Baltimore, MD): One lap around the football field was excruciatingly painful as a high school senior. I weighed 250 lbs and was an all state football player. I
knew back then that I needed to trim down. Running became my escape. Through running, I discovered a passion that I once thought was pain. My goal was one marathon.
With eleven now under my belt, my goal is not just about me, but about sharing the ups and downs in life that coincide so well with the ups and downs on the roads we run.

*Tim Mullen (Timonium, MD): Completed 23 marathons, 14 times as a pacer, 17 times with Team in Training Alumni in Marathon, 100 mile cycle and Triathlon events.
Occupation: Director of Operations, Renaissance Harborplace Baltimore.
Cristal Barnes: She is a fitness instructor who loves to run at a conversational pace, and will do her best to coach & motivate you through all 26.2 miles to help keep you going.
She believes anyone can run a marathon with the right attitude and a little ambition, you've just got to keep going - a motto which has worked for her in 38 marathons. She looks
forward to meeting you & helping you cross the finish line on time!
Gene Fritzel (Timonium, MD): He has been running 20 plus years, completed over 200 marathons, and has paced well over thirty times. Has run all the Baltimore Marathons
and has paced each time pacers have been used (since 2002). Love to chat and motivate runners that are in our time slot. I'm retired from the Balto city police dept and am
presently employed as a Baltimore County Deputy Sherriff.
Greg Griffie: Completed 17 marathons, 50K trail run, 25K trail run, 9 time pacer, Team in Training marathon Alumni . Occupation: Director of Culinary, Marriott
International.
Chris Harrell: He is an experienced marathoner having just completed his 22nd marathon at B&A Marathon on March 30th. His greatest joy is to help others reach their goal
and have fun while doing it. He works as a Site Assistance Visit Team Lead in Cyber Security at NNSA when not pounding the pavement training for some long distance race.

*Laura Beck: Completed more than 30 marathons and is a multiple Ironman finisher. One of her favorite things to do now is to help other runners reach their goals. She
promises to keep a consistent pace - the miles will fly by.
Jodie Kendall: A returning pacer who has competed in many marathons, triathlons, century rides, and an Ironman finisher. True to her role as an Human Resources Director,
she has a penchant for telling clean (& corny) pirate jokes.
Roger Shanks: He has been running for 10 years, 21 marathons, a few ultras, and triathlons. It is thrilling to run with fellow runners on their determined quest and to celebrate
the finish line filled with inspiration, and joy, and to bask in the glow of the runners accomplishing their goals. Hope to see you there, we'll have a good time.
Lydia Shell: She is a RRCA Certified Distance Coach and is currently the president of the Prince George's Running Club. In the last four years she has discovered her passion
for distance running and wants to share this passion with others and help them achieve their distance running goals. She has completed 10 marathons, 21 half marathons, 8 ten
milers and many 5k's and 10k's along the way.
Matthew Wells: He has run 30 marathons and this is his fourth time pacing the Baltimore Marathon. In 2013, he ran my first 50 miler. When he is not running, he is a teacher
and lives in Washington, D.C.
