Blessed are all who take refuge in him. Several things come to mind as I read this Psalm. This passage speaks of the Sovereignty of God, which is a fancy of saying God is in charge and is in control. No matter what happens, God always wins in the end. Here are a few miscellaneous comments on this chapter: - In verse 2, the phrase “Anointed One” is used. This is talking about Jesus. It’s significant to note that the English word Messiah comes from the Hebrew word for anointed one and the English word for Christ comes from the Greek word for anointed one. - A couple of times God’s anger and wrath are mentioned. It is important to understand that God’s anger is always an expression of His righteousness. Because God is Holy and Just, there are times where judgment or punishment is needed. God does not “lose His temper” and get out of control with selfish anger; rather, His wrath is part of His Righteousness. This does not apply just to kings but to all of us. We need to seek God’s wisdom for every part of our life. Don’t ask if something is sin or not, or if it’s wrong; instead, ask: what is best?…what is wisest? 30 31 - Verse 11 says that we should “fear the Lord.” This does not mean we are to be scared or afraid of God. Rather, this means we should have a healthy respect for God…to be in “awe” of God. We need not be afraid of God, our Savior and Friend, but we do need to be in awe of Him. 6pm Three Different Bible Studies 9:30am Power Hour 11am Service in the Sanctuary Morgan Mason Aylin Ramirez 25 26 4:45pm-6:50pm Feed the Hungry at Center of Grace 5pm Rally 6pm Dinner -$3 7pm Right Angle Dylan Allega Noah Barrett Kathryn Lundquist Allanah Taylor 27 28 29 Jen Rosema Stacia Toburen Samantha Throneberry Jacey Dilts
