The legislative changes to the Companies Act include the introduction a “small company” concept for audit exemption, the use of alternate addresses instead of resi‐ dential addresses on ACRA’s records, new powers being accorded to the Registrar of Companies to debar directors in default of lodgement obligations, and updates to the regulatory requirements for foreign companies. The new Business Names Registration Act will, among other things, allow for the exemption from registration of individuals carrying on business in Singapore under only their full names. Introduction to the Enhanced BizFile ACRA is making major enhancements to its business registration and filing portal, BizFile. The enhancement is expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year. It will sport a more user friendly interface and new mobile applications for users to access the system while on the move. This briefing will introduce key features of the enhanced BizFile including a user‐centric dashboard, and a walkthrough of key common BizFile transactions.
