ESAA Conditions of Use http://info.identity.education.govt.nz/esaa/conditions © Ministry of Education – Updated: 20/2/2014 These Conditions of Use apply to your accessing Education Sector online services using the Education Sector Authentication and Authorisation (ESAA) service. Please read these conditions before you accept them. These Conditions of Use are considered to be fair and reasonable. Should any of the Conditions of Use not be considered 'fair and reasonable', the condition will be reviewed and possibly amended to reflect the original intention. You are responsible for reviewing these conditions, and on signing or selecting “I Accept”, you are deemed to have agreed to these conditions. Please do not accept these conditions if you do not understand any part of them. For any ESAA issues, call the Ministry of Education (MoE) Service Desk on 0800 422 599 or email [email protected]. Security You are responsible for ensuring that you use your access to ESAA enabled services in a manner which does not contravene the security policies of the ESAA Operational Policy or the security policies of the accessed service or application. Further, you agree that you will: Ensure all information you give is correct and complete. Take all reasonable steps to prevent someone misusing, or gaining unauthorised access to, the connected application using your User ID Ensure your computer system has appropriate anti virus software installed. You agree to the collection of information about how you use the services and you will provide further information if requested. All information you provide will be correct and complete. Privacy The MoE complies with the Privacy Act 1993 and is committed to respecting the personal privacy of individuals who use Education Sector applications that are enabled by ESAA. Any information held by ESAA will be kept secure. You agree: The MoE can collect and hold personal information provided by you as evidence of identity or to provide you with access to education applications. This includes the MoE sharing this information with the organisations providing the education sector applications. The MoE can collect information about the ways in which you use ESAA. ESAA will ask you for this information or ESAA will obtain it from its recording of your activity. The MoE will register calls made between you and the Ministry of Education Service Desk for monitoring and service quality purposes. You have the right to see information that we have about you and ask us to correct any errors with your information. ESAA Conditions of Use Your Responsibilities You have an important role to play in the secure use of online services. You are responsible for your own behaviour when accessing online services. The following outlines rules and recommendations for General use of online services and Password construction and management and Security question guidelines. General Use You must NOT: Send frivolous, obscene or defamatory messages Look at, change, delete or tamper with files or programmes that you are not authorised to access Write passwords on sticky notes, desk pads, calendars, or store online Share your user name and password with another person Reveal your password or security question answers to any other person You will never be asked for your password or security question answers by a legitimate ESAA administrator. Passwords Your password within ESAA must: Have a minimum of 7 characters, and Contain 3 of the following - Lowercase, Uppercase, Digits, Punctuation, and Special character Be easily remembered, but difficult to guess Your password should be changed regularly. Security Questions and Answers The first time you logon to Education Sector online services you are required to set security questions and answers. These security questions and answers allow you to update your forgotten password for your Education Sector Account by yourself online, without having to contact the MoE Service Desk. Breach of Conditions of Use Any breach of the conditions of use, which you signed to on registration, will be dealt with in a manner appropriate to the seriousness of the breach Access to online services will normally be revoked during this investigative period and each incident will be considered on a case-by-case basis Minors If you are under 18 you are encouraged to seek advice before accepting these conditions of use. http://info.identity.education.govt.nz/esaa/conditions 20/2/2014 Page 2 of 3 ESAA Conditions of Use Changes to Conditions of Use We may make changes to ESAA terms and conditions from time to time. When we make changes, we will update ESAA terms and conditions on our websites. We will also specify the date of the last update. ESAA Conditions of Use was last updated in February 2014. Each application is the responsibility of its owning organisation. If you have concerns about any application you must contact the appropriate owning organisation.
