• There are several ways to talk about what people
like to do:
• In English we say:
▫ He likes to read.
▫ You like to swim.
▫ I like to spend time with my friends.
In Spanish
• In Spanish there is a similar idea for saying what
a person likes to do.
▫ Me gusta ________.
 I like ____________.
▫ Te gusta _________.
 You like __________.
▫ Él/Ella/Usted le gusta _________.
 He/She likes __________.
 You like __________. (Formal)

How do you ask about likes?
• The questions we use to ask about what a person
likes to do:
▫ ¿Qué te gusta hacer? = What do you like to do?
▫ ¿Qué le gusta hacer? = What does he/she like to do?
Ejemplos
• Here are a few examples:
• Question: ¿Qué te gusta hacer?
▫ Answer: Me gusta leer.
• Question: ¿Qué le gusta hacer?

Dislikes…cosas que no me gusta
• To talk about what you dislike ALL you do is put
a “NO” in front of the “me gusta” phrase.
• Ej. No me gusta dibujar.
▫ I don’t like to draw.
• Ej. No me gusta correr.
▫ I don’t like to run.
Questions
• If you are asked a question like
▫ ¿Te gusta bailar? (Do you like to dance?)
• You answer it in one of two ways:
▫ Sí, me gusta bailar (Yes, I like to dance)
 Or
▫ No, no me gusta bailar.
(No, I do not like to dance)
