Provided by DHHS on MOU btw DOJ and DOH
•
Standard equivalent to that in the community
•
Health clinic at each of 6 prison facilities
•
Clinical Director + 2 MO (1 part time)
•
Nursing staff, Pharmacists, Dentist, Physio, etc.
•
6 bed in-patient facility

History of PHP
•
E-health record first developed by Dr Chris Wake in
Darwin and Alice Springs
•
Designed from Medical Director suite to fit specific
prison needs and as alternative to paper-based records
•
Further development by FileMaker developers
•
PHP rewritten in FileMaker 7
•
Introduced to Tasmanian prison system in 2008
•
Used in all prison locations across the State

Different levels of access granted to all health and
administrative staff
•
Data is regularly backed up at DHHS servers
•
Real time access to health records despite prisoner
movement across different locations
•
External patient records uploaded as PDF, images, etc.
•
Easy data retrieval and reporting
