Mediators of Inflammation
Special Issue on
Inflammatory Markers and Health Status
CALL FOR PAPERS
Persistent, chronic low-grade systemic inflammation has been increasingly recognized as a common pathological process and an important contributing factor
to chronic diseases such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes, cardiovascular
diseases, cancer, dementia, and osteoporosis, many of which are age-related. Clarifying the strength of the relationship between various inflammatory markers and
health status, establishing diagnostic cutoff points for levels of serum inflammatory
markers, identifying inflammatory level risk factors (such as lifestyle, genetic,
and environmental factors), and investigating new treatment strategies to reduce
inflammatory levels in different populations are crucial steps toward providing early
treatment and for disease prevention.
We invite investigators to contribute original research and review articles that seek
to explore the relationship between serum inflammatory markers and chronic and
age-related diseases and the development of strategies to modify systemic levels of
inflammatory markers in different populations.
We are interested in articles that explore aspects of chronic low-grade systemic
inflammation and its management in different populations.
Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
Recent developments in the relationship between various serum
inflammatory markers and chronic or age-related diseases
Identification of diagnostic cutoff points for levels of serum inflammatory
marker as indicators of health status
Elucidation of the influence of lifestyle, genetic, and environmental factors
on inflammatory levels
Development and testing of novel and effective anti-inflammatory strategies
