Palsgaard ® Polymers PGE 8100
– effective internal anti-fogging and anti-static agent
for masterbatch and polyolefins (PP, PE)

Palsgaard® Polymers PGE 8100 is polyglycerol esters of fatty acids made from fatty
acids and glycerol, both of vegetable origin. The agent is completely free of amines and amides.

Functions:
Features
Internal anti-fogging agent:
Keeps food wrap films and other types of packaging transparent
during cold storage and in places with changing temperatures
Helps to avoid fogging from chilled and hot-packaged food
Prevents the reduction of light transmission in agricultural films
Internal anti-static agent:
Anti-dust effect by preventing dust attraction to plastic articles
Reduces handling and stacking problems of plastic packaging
Removes the hazards of fire or explosion
Prevents fouling, packaging film defects caused by sparks
Prevents electrical discharge during filing and loading of plastic packaging
Mold release and slip effect:
Improves surface finish of injection and blow molded particles
Lowers release force for injection of molded articles
Process lubricant:
Allows the manufacturer to increase the production speed by lowering of
friction between plastic materials and parts of equipment
* Palsgaard uses internal validated test methods for measurement of
physical/chemical properties, which meet international common used test methods.

Dosage
Recommended polymers:
Polyolefins (PP, PE)
A typical dosage of 0.4 - 0.6% for 50 µ LDPE blow film provides excellent anti-fogging
performance. Significantly increasing the dosage will not improve performance. High dosing may
lead to negative consequences – i.e. blooming effect, the product surface becoming oily, looses
transparency and acquires a yellowish tint. Testing is recommended to define the optimum loading
level for each application and composition.
Impact on
performance
Low relative humidity, corona treatment, lamination of plastic articles may reduce the anti-fogging
and anti-static performance. Presence of other functional agents on the surface of the polyolefins
may affect anti-fogging and anti-static performance. Testing is recommended to adjust the optimal
benefits of properties for final products and applications.
Guidelines for use
The product should be incorporated into the polymer matrix by being added during production of
additive the masterbatch or polyolefins (PP, PE). The low content and liquids form of the agent
makes it difficult to dose the agent directly into plastic articles and packaging.

The results are obtained in 50µ blown LDPE film during cold fog tests. Data are obtained at 23°C and 50% relative humidity.
Palsgaard® Polymers PGE 8100 has shown improved short term anti-fogging performance compared with a reference, as
analysed up to 6 month after film sample blowing.
