Frank Landrus uses Legos to good effect
Frank Landrus conducted the March
club program and brought along some
sample models and examples of his
favorite method of creating alignment
jigs for his models.
Frank illustrated his alignment jig
creations with the helping hands of the
familiar Legos building blocks. Frank
finds the versatile blocks to be
especially useful in creating jigs to align
armored vehicle tracks, landing gear
and flying surfaces for aircraft
(especially the spindly landing gear
struts for World War I aircraft), and as a
general third hand for assembly.
The blocks come in such an amazing
array of sizes and shapes that they can
be used for virtually any application. And
the positive locking tabs ensure that the
blocks won’t be going anywhere after
you set them up. Sure beats stacking
paint bottles all around your current
project.
And they can be had pretty cheap,
especially if you frequent garage sales.
You may just be able to pick up a
bucket for a couple of dollars.
