Bastrop High School A School of Academic Distinction 2013 – “Leading today, tomorrow, for life!” April 8, 2014 Dear Bastrop ISD Parent / Guardian: House Bill 5 (HB5), recently passed by the Texas Legislature, has changed graduation requirements for students who will graduate beginning in 2018. This affects current eighth grade students. HB5 gives students options they must consider when designing a Personal Graduation Plan (PGP). With more flexibility in developing a graduation plan comes additional responsibility to meet requirements of the plan. It is important both students and parents are well informed about the options available prior to confirming the PGP this spring. In order to help parents and students understand the new PGP, Bastrop ISD will be hosting a mandatory parent information meeting. This meeting will provide details pertaining to the new graduation requirements as well as to give participants an opportunity to ask questions. Your student will not receive a course schedule until PGP’s are completed and parent signatures are obtained during the meeting. The Bastrop Middle School / Bastrop High School parent meeting will be held in the cafetorium at Bastrop High School at 6:30 pm on the following dates: • • • May 28, 2014 (last name A – L) May 29, 2014 (last name M – Z) May 30, 2014 (last name A – Z Spanish Session) If you have any questions, please contact the Bastrop High School counseling office at 512-7727200.
