Brief History of the Orphanage - It started with two motherless babies Khadijat from Ila Local
Government and Isiaq from Ife Central Local Government. After which we had more children from
different Local Governments across the State. We had a set of twins and a triplet. All of them have since
been reunited with their families.
No of children in the Orphanage - 50
Source of our children
We take children whose mothers died after delivery, these include day old babies, a month old
and more. The children are exposed to series of test such as, HiV test, blood test, group and genotype
tests before admission. Presently we have two sets of twins a baby girl and other nine babies age range
between 1½ years and nine years. The nine children have started schooling in FOMWAN Model School.
All together we have 5girls and nine boys. We are registered with the Ministry of Social Welfare and we
do have meetings with them as at when due. We reunite the babies with their families on request but the
policy is after two years, the children will go back to their intimate their families but in most cases
families do not comply.
Sources of funding
Our source of funding is mainly Donations (fisebililahi) by sisters and other well wishers. We employ
caregivers who take care of them, presently we have seven caregivers; one caregiver to two children.
Salaries are paid at the end of the month.
