Contributions to the Smart Grid and Utility
Automation area in Power Sector
• Initiated standardization for meter communication protocol
– now in India a uniform standard for all energy meter
communications has been adopted – IEC 62056 and
Indian Companion Standard IS 15959.
• Established Meter communication protocol conformance
testing laboratory – tested & issued one of the highest
number of certificates in the world.
• Established
substation
automation
communication
protocols conformance testing Laboratory as per
standards IEC 61850 and DNP 3.0.
• UCA accredited level ‘A’ Testing Laboratory for IEC 61850
IEDs.

• Project Management Consultant (PMC) to a
state distribution utility (TSSPDCL) for Smart Grid
Pilot project Implementation – tender for selection
of Smart grid implementing agency has been
released and active
• Consultant to local distribution utility (BSECOM)
for Smart Grid DPR and tender document
preparations under USAID program

Bengaluru city Distribution Automation System
(DAS) project implementation for local distribution
