what a great finish to our thirtieth Anniversary our New Home and Gallery is up and running its proving very
Popular we are getting great publicity , support from our Art and Political Friends such as Leslie Williams, State
Member to the Lord Mayor Peter Besseling and other public figures, media centres and our friend at the
Glasshouse, we are getting a lot of visitors and setting up a plan to use the Gallery as much as possible for all of our
activities , Workshops , painting days ,life drawing and portraiture. We have received $6500 in Grants, $3000 from
Kendall Coop, $500 from Holliday Credit Union, and the latest is a grant of $3000 from the Council, we are on our
way.
Based on how we go economically we will consider cutting back the levy from $ 25 a month, we will keep it under
review. A range of ideas have been put forward by members as fund raising to support the association activities, the
committee is considering all of them but at this stage we are prioritising our activities as it’s been a busy year and
our major activity from now till Christmas is the Summer Showcase. Two Members have stepped forward to work
with me in attempt to raise sponsorship, based on the response we will consider funding it again ourselves, this year
we are reverting to supporting a Charity we have decided it will be Bravehearts as at the moment they are being
supported by the L.U.S.Club and C.H.Chamber, Entry forms and further information will be out in October.
The Koalas are coming, four of our members have produced great koalas as part of the campaign being run by the
Arts and Health Australia the project Director Margaret Meagher the Director addressed our meeting , we have
been asked to support the exhibition which will be a trial of fifty five Koalas on display around the Hastings area
you can see all them on their website or in the focus magazine, it’s in support of drawing attention to Dementia in
the Hastings , our artists involved are Francessca O’Donnell, Kim McLean , Kim Staples and Pauline Roods if we
do support having a display at the Gallery it will probably be in the grounds as we can’t cover it by our Insurance
so it’s up to the Maritime Museum.
