INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW
Geofacets Connector for Petrel and Studio allows the innovative features and content of Geofacets
(www.geofacets.com) to be accessible from within the Petrel E&P software platform.
With the Geofacets Connector, you gain access to hundreds of thousands of georeferenced geologic
maps sourced from trusted publishers such as Elsevier, Geological Society of London, Geological Society
of America, Society for Sedimentary Geology, and Society of Economic Geologists.
Maps are easily discoverable using the Geofacets Connector’s intuitive search features, and each
map contains a link to a read-only PDF of the source article for added context and insight. Integrate
relevant maps directly into your 2D and 3D Petrel platform projects to help validate proprietary models
with external insights, learn more about the geologic characteristics of an area, and more.
GEOFACETS CONTENT
As mentioned in the previous section, with the Geofacets Connector, you gain access to hundreds of
thousands of georeferenced geologic maps sourced from over 60 scientific journals and publications
from the following publishers:

SEPM (Society for Sedimentary Geology)
Geofacets offers over 19,000 geological maps and associated information from
SEPM (Society for Sedimentary Geology). Each peer-reviewed map is downloadable,
accompanied by metadata, and provides source information including abstract and
full-text PDF. Over 15,000 maps are georeferenced for easy integration into exploration
projects. Newly published maps are continuously added for access to the
latest information.
SEPM is an international not-for-profit society dedicated to the dissemination of scientific information
on sedimentology, stratigraphy, paleontology, and many related specialties. The society has a long
tradition of publishing papers that become benchmark contributions to sedimentary geology. With
top technical journals and book series, including the Journal of Sedimentary Research and PALAIOS,
SEPM is a definitive source of essential scientific insights for the exploration of conventional and

Society of Economic Geologists
Geofacets offers over 15,000 geological maps and associated information
from Society of Economic Geologists (SEG). Each peer-reviewed map is
downloadable, accompanied by metadata, and provides source information
including abstract and full-text PDF. Over 9,000 maps are georeferenced
for easy integration into exploration projects. Newly published maps are
continuously added for access to the latest information.
SEG is an international organization committed to advancing the science and the discovery of mineral
resources. The Society’s market-leading journal Economic Geology is widely recognized as the
authoritative reference on ore deposit geology. Its content is particularly useful to researchers
attempting to better understand geological processes, decision-makers attempting to assess
mineral resource potential of areas, and explorationists attempting to discover new ore bodies.
Economic Geology
1905-present
Economic Geology contains the results of basic and applied
research focused on the geology and genesis of ore deposits
from throughout the world. Papers specifically include the
most up-to-date geological maps of world-class ore deposits,
and information regarding their tectonic setting, geological
history, age of ore formation, mineralogy, hydrothermal
alteration, geochemistry, structural geology, exploration
guidelines, and processes of formation.
