Angola License Round 2013/14 Onshore Kwanza: Location of Block KON 6 Block KON 6 Overview Block KON 6 is an onshore block in the northeast of the Inner Kwanza Basin. It is a square block with an area of 1,024 Km². It borders Block KON 3 to the north on latitude 8° 58’ 14’’, Block KON 7 to the east on longitude 13° 52’ 11’’, Block KON 9 to the south on latitude 9° 15’ 36’’ and Block KON 5 to the west on longitude 13° 34’ 47’’. The schematic cross section below shows Block KON 6 in its regional context. The Tertiary filled Calomboloca Trough runs from north to south-west through Block KON 6. Either side of the trough, rafts composed of upper Cretaceous rocks can be found. 50 Km Local setting 10 Km Block KON 6 is an underexplored area, with only four wells and no existing fields, however, it holds potential for future hydrocarbon discoveries. Hydrocarbon shows, and light oil (found in Calomboloca-1 [CA-1]) discovered in the pre and post-salt sections suggest that an active source kitchen is present. Calomboloca-1 proved the existence of a very thick pre-salt sedimentary package and excellent quality reservoir rocks in the post-salt. Quifangondo Formation (Fm) sandstones form the main reservoir of this lead, which steeply dip into the trough to the south of the lead. Source kitchens for this lead occur at the base of the Calomboloca Trough, and possibly the pre-salt Cuvo Fm, with migration through a possible window in the Aptian salt. Faulting may provide additional trapping, while seals are likely to be Quifangondo Fm shales. Lead 2 – Post-salt (Cretaceous) and Pre-salt A pre-salt and a series of post-salt leads are stacked in the northwest corner of Block KON 6. The pre-salt lead is a basement tilted fault block with overlying Cuvo Fm forming a structural trap. Postsalt stratigraphy is almost certainly fully represented, so a series of stacked reservoirs, from the Binga Member (Mb) to Itombe Mb are possible. Binga Mb organic-rich rocks are the likely source for post-salt reservoirs, or, if the salt has been breached, Cuvo Fm shales. Cuvo Fm shales from the surrounding grabens are the likely source for the pre-salt lead. Faulting here provides the trapping mechanism for the post-salt, while thick salt provides an effective seal for the pre-salt. Lead 3 – Pre-salt This lead is a double anticline structure in sub-salt Cuvo Fm sediments. Organic rich shales of the Cuvo Fm from the underlying Calomboloca Low are the likely source for this lead, while overlying salt may provide an effective seal if it is sufficiently thick. –1– Angola License Round 2013/14 10 Km Lead 1 10 Km Lead 2 10 Km Lead 3 –1– Angola License Round 2013/14 Onshore Kwanza Basin – Data Available Legacy seismic data available: Survey Name No. Lines A_AONO_F00032AI BA BJ BJ_2 BLP C CLP DG FP MCP_82 MCP_82_tepa2 MCP_AONO_A09901AI MLP MP MX NP Q QDP74 QNP QSP S VFP VFP-74 Totals 7 27 23 8 19 51 5 22 10 1 5 1 10 15 16 19 21 2 8 38 9 11 1 329 2012 2D seismic lines available: Total Length (Km) 261 406 411 67 248 776 77 364 112 8 41 13 100 212 192 305 460 25 98 372 195 135 6 4,885 Line Name Total Length (Km) Line Name Total Length (Km) 002-216 002-218 002-220 002-222 002-224 002-226 002-228 002-230 002-232 002-234 002-236 002-238 002-240 002-242 104.9 45.6 108.6 58.0 107.5 29.2 90.2 49.4 95.8 53.5 56.9 50.6 54.3 41.6 002-303a 002-303b 002-303c 002-305 002-307 002-309a 002-309b 002-311 002-313n 002-313s 002-315a 002-315b 002-317 002-318 Total 50.3 30.5 63.5 66.9 87.5 143.6 30.9 163.2 67.2 161.4 132.2 81.8 179.8 62.4 2527.7 Reports available: Regional Report Onshore Kwanza KON 3 Block Report KON 5 Block Report KON 6 Block Report KON 7 Block Report KON 8 Block Report KON 9 Block Report KON 17 Block Report
