Lausanne, 26 November 2014 - As part of the modernization of its IT, Palexpo SA opted for a converged infrastructure based on VCE Vblock solution with LANexpert as its local service partner. For the CIO of Palexpo SA, Dario Mangano, this solution will enable the development of business intelligence projects serving Palexpo’s customers. Palexpo SA operates the largest exhibition and conference center in western Switzerland and invests significantly in its information systems (IT) in order to enrich its portfolio of services with an offer of "economic intelligence" under the brand "by Palexpo”. Therefore, IT has been reorganized into three different groups: web, architecture and business applications. 80% of computers using Palexpo and all its servers are now virtualized. Palexpo SA also has a private cloud solution for its online storage. To cope with the increasing number of user connections, Palexpo SA decided to move to a converged infrastructure based on VCE’s Vblock solution. This new platform ensures fast deployment, scalability and predictability in order to deal with data growth and changing needs. Palexpo SA can thus focus on its core projects while relying on the existing team and manage peak loads better during major events. This project strengthens the partnership started several years ago between LANexpert and Palexpo SA. Indeed, an EMC VSPEX type reference architecture had already been deployed, announcing the beginning of convergence. In the definition of the new target architecture, the analysis of different, current and future workloads was a key element in the choice of Vblocks.
