KIDS KORNER
Guest Columnist ……….Ethan Cioci
Hi my name is Ethan, I am ten and I live here in Sundance with my horses, dogs and cats. I am
going to tell you about my unique and colorful Christmas gift. I got something, scaly, small, something that
likes warm weather, and likes to climb. It is a Nosy Be panther chameleon. This is how I take care of him.
First I have to feed him crickets and mealworms; then I have to mist him3 times a day, Keep him under a
UV light and a heat light, to keep him warm. I also handle him but not too much. He has a long, sticky,
tongue he uses to catch insects with. His tongue like his body changes colors. His body changes colors,
when the temperature changes, his mood, and his environment around him. I named him Blue Jay because
he will be a bright bluish teal color when he is an adult. Right now he is a grayish brown with hints of blue.

Tammy’s Bits of Sundance History
January 1985, the Sundance Times was filled with fun
facts about residents. Birthdays, anniversaries, weddings,
and a list of all new homes under construction and
welcoming new residents, were all mentioned.
The Sundance country times reported in January that a
new fire station was under construction on the North East
end of Sundance. Located on the corner of Lightfoot and
Butch Cassidy Trail, this 50' x 60' station was designed to
accommodate a ladder truck and will have a truck they,
meeting room, office, kitchen, locker room, and bathroom.
There was a meeting held with the division of recreation
and parks, Florida Department of natural resources and
assistant Park manager of the Bureau of Park management
about plans for the little Manatee River state recreational
area. Distressing news that no further plans to continue to
develop the state Park going to take place for as long as two
years. The funds that have been allocated were needed
elsewhere in the state. The Sundance horsemen and triple B
riding club could still work on developing the 22 miles of
riding trails.
Sundance stables news-13 stalls rented in the large barn.
Arena has been reserved on three dates for horse shows.
The stall gates receipts new latches and setting of poles for
a new outdoor wash rack. Stall rates: residents and lot
owners $17.50 per month or $.75 per day. All others: $35
per month or $1.50 per day. The Sundance 4-H club now
has 23 members. A horsemanship clinic was held at the
stables. The 4-H members went door-to-door singing
Christmas carols and sponsored a needy family with food
and clothing, by selling hundred and $50 worth of wrapping
paper.
A new committee was being formed in 1985, do to
Sundance was growing by leaps and bounds.
An objective of this committee was:
1. Welcome new residents.
2. Organize social activities.
3. Help board of directors keep membership list.
4. Provide assistance to Sundance children if an emergency
should occur during their parent’s absence.
5. Provide congratulations; get well wishes and condolences
when appropriate.
The committee does not plan to meet every month, just
when the need arises.
One of newer residents has started a
