were mailed. This number of letters
does not include Hearing notices, architectural approval letters or architectural
denial letters.
If the violation wasn’t
corrected with the first letter, your
“neighbor” may have already received
his second letter. Even with letters sent,
violations will continue. We must all do
our best to ensure compliance with the
Association guidelines. Regular inspections
are performed as a service to the community and are intended to preserve and enhance home values. Thank you for understanding that all Association members are
subject to the same rules and restrictions
as defined in the governing documents.

Ground Broken for Potomac
Shores VRE Station

Several members of the Southbridge Board of Directors were invited to attend
the groundbreaking of the new Virginia Railway Express train station at the Potomac
Shores community held on July 31, 2014. The event, which was attended by Governor Terry McAuliffe and a host of federal, state, local and railroad officials, marked
the beginning of the design/construction phase for the station. The station is expected to open in 2017.
Many of the speakers, which included Gov. McAuliffe, Maureen Caddigan the Potomac District Supervisor, Paul Milde the Aquia District of Stafford County Supervisor
and current chair of the VRE Operating Board, and Eddie Byrne representing Potomac Shores developers Sun Cal, spoke of the years of work required to bring the
station plans to this point. Prince William County has worked closely with Sun Cal,
VRE, CSX, and state transportation officials to make this day a reality.
This is an important milestone for Southbridge. Having a VRE station within the
community, or in this case our sister community is sure to affect home values in a
positive manner. Homebuyers will gladly pay more to be able to commute without
having to travel on Rt.1 or I-95. The rail station will be a big plus for retail businesses looking to locate in the Potomac Shores Town Center. It should also be a
draw for companies looking to locate in Potomac Shores. The combination of transportation, shopping and jobs should bring homebuyers who previously had not looked
past Fairfax County to the Cherry Hill Peninsula.

Rules Have Changed - All Children Entering Sixth Grade Must Have
Tdap Immunization
August 14, 2014
All students entering sixth grade must present proof that they have received the Tdap vaccine
for tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis before starting school this year. Virginia rules have
changed, so all sixth-grade students are now included. There is no exemption for those under 11
years of age. Parents are asked to check with their doctor to be sure their child is current on
shots. Proof of immunization must be presented to enroll children in sixth grade for the 2014-15
school year.
Shots may be obtained from a doctor, military clinic, or the Prince William County Health Department. Documentation should be taken to your child’s middle school or Central Registration.

Start a Neighborhood Watch
in Your Neighborhood
Inquiries have been made asking how to start a Neighborhood
Watch in our many neighborhoods. The way to begin is to call
the Prince William County Police Department, Crime Prevention
Unit. Their telephone number is 703-792-7270.

Ten Reasons to Volunteer for
the Association
1. Protect your self-interests. Protect your property values
and maintain the quality of life in your community.
2. Correct a problem. Has your car been towed, or do you
think maybe maintenance has been neglected?
3. Be sociable. Meet your neighbors, make friends, and exchange opinions.
4. Give back. Repay a little of what’s been done for you.
5. Advance your career. Build your personal resume by including your community
volunteer service.
6. Have some fun. Association work isn’t drudgery. It’s fun accomplishing good
things with your neighbors.
7. Get educated. Learn how it’s done—we’ll train you.
8. Express yourself. Help with creative projects like community beautification.
9. Earn recognition. If you would like a little attention or validation, your contributions will be recognized and celebrated.

The Clubhouse is available for rent to Southbridge residents. Anyone interested in renting the

A package containing all the information on renting the center such as rules, rental procedures, fees, and an application can be picked up at the Management Office.
Early Morning
Walkers / Runners Need
to Exercise Caution
Many of our residents walk or run
early in the morning as well as in the
evening when it is dark. Motorists cannot easily see pedestrians in low light
levels. Please remember to wear light
colored or reflective clothing for your
own safety and that of your neighbors
when you go out in the early morning
or evening hours. Also, be sure to walk
or run on the left-side of the road facing oncoming traffic as an additional
safety precaution.
Farm Animals
The maintenance, keeping,
boarding, or raising of animals, livestock, poultry or
reptiles of any kind is prohibited on any lot or upon
the common area. Please
refer to your Declaration for
Southbridge on the Potomac
for any further information.

trash on the streets of Southbridge.

and it brings unwanted animals into our

Remember to keep your pets on a
leash and PLEASE clean up after them.
This is becoming a constant and serious
situation. Anyone seeing residents not
cleaning up after their pets, please notify the Association.
Residents not
cleaning up after their pets will be fined
to the highest extent according to the
Southbridge Declaration and reported to
the Health Department.
Also, try not to leave your pets outdoors for extended periods of time. The
cold or hot weather is dangerous to
them and their barking can disturb the
neighborhood.
