John Matusitz, UCF Professor will speak at Volusia 912 Patriots Forum
on the Islamist threat to America and the world.
Meet John Matusitz and hear him speak on Friday, April 25 th at 7PM.
This forum will be held at Sica Hall Community Center, 1065 Daytona Avenue in Daytona Beach.
Dr. Jonathan Matusitz earned his doctorate in Communication from the University of Oklahoma in
2006. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Nicholson School of Communication at the
University of Central Florida (UCF). He studies globalization, culture, and terrorism. One of his
particular emphases is the Islamist threat to America and the world. On top of having more than 100
academic publications and over 100 conference presentations, he taught at a NATO-affiliated military
base in Belgium in 2010. Originally from Belgium himself, he migrated to the United States in 2000.
In 2012, he was honored with a prestigious teaching award by the College of Sciences at UCF.
According to his website, In 2011, Dr. Matusitz’s research was cited by the U.S. Supreme Court. His
most recent book, Terrorism & Communication: A Critical Introduction, was published in 2012 by
SAGE.
