Dentrix Enterprise 8.0 CE (Certified Edition) 7/7/2014 Dentrix Enterprise 8.0 Meaningful Use Certified Edition Presented by Christine Geary Dentrix Enterprise Certified Trainer Dentrix Enterprise 8.0 Meaningful Use Certified Edition Presented by Christine Geary Dentrix Enterprise Certified Trainer Meaningful Use: Defined • The Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs provide financial incentives for the meaningful use of certified EHR technology to improve patient care. • To receive an EHR incentive payment, providers have to show that they are meaningfully using their EHRs by meeting thresholds for a number of objectives. • The EHR Incentive Programs are phased in three stages with increasing requirements. http://www.cms.gov/Regulations-and-Guidance/Legislation/EHRIncentivePrograms/Meaningful_Use.html 1 7/7/2014 Meaningful Use: Requirements Core Objectives These are objectives that everyone who participates in the program must meet. Some of the core objectives have exclusions that could exemptt you from f h i having tto meett them, th but b t many of them do not. You have to report on all 13 Core Objectives in Stage 1 and meet the thresholds established by those objectives. In Stage 2, there are 17 Core Objectives. Meaningful Use: Requirements Menu Objectives You only have to report on 5 out of the 9 available Menu Objectives in Stage 1, including at least one public health-related objective. You can choose objectives that make sense for your workflow or practice. Again, some of these objectives have exclusions that could exempt you from having to meet them. In Stage 2, you must meet 3 out of 6 Menu Objectives. Meaningful Use: Requirements Clinical Quality Measures Clinical quality measures do not have thresholds that you have to meet—you simply have to report data on them. them You don’t have to do any calculations for the clinical quality measures. Your certified HER will produce a report with clinical quality measure data, and you must enter that data exactly as your certified EHR produced it. 2 7/7/2014 Meaningful Use: Requirements Stage 1 Stage 2 • 13 Core Objectives • 17 Core Objectives • 5 Menu Objectives • 3 Menu Objectives • 9 CQM’s in 2014 • 9 CQM’s in 2014 Meaningful Use: Reporting Meaningful Use: Reporting 3 7/7/2014 What is a Visit?
