accepted unless accompanied by the appropriate fees and correctly completed and signed
entry form. In the event of bad weather it is the responsibility of the competitors to check the swawpcs.com

pony’s stud book registration number otherwise we will be unable to accept your entry. Entries in
the X register of the WPCS Stud Book cannot enter.

SPECIAL AWARDS
WELSH PONY AND COB SOCIETY BRONZE MEDALS will be awarded to the Champion In Hand in
Sections A, B, C, D and Part Bred provided owner/lessee of the winner is a fully paid up member of the Welsh
Pony & Cob Society at the time of judging. A current WPCS Membership card must be shown in the ring. If
the pony is not registered at the time of entry for the show, application for registration must be made within one
month of the date of the show, otherwise the medal will not be awarded. Geldings originally registered as
stallions and still being shown under their stallion numbers must be correctly re-entered in the Gelding Section
or the medal will be with-held.
WELSH PONY AND COB SOCIETY PERFORMANCE MEDALS will be awarded to the Part-Bred, Mini
Ridden, Novice Ridden, Open Ridden and WHP Champions.

WELSH PONY AND COB SOCIETY ROSETTES will also be awarded to In Hand Champions - Section A,
B, C, D and Part Bred.
WELSH PART BRED PONY GROUP SPECIAL ROSETTES
SOUTH WEST WELSH CHAMPION OF THE YEAR. Champions and Reserve Champions of Sections
A, B, C, D and Part Breds in Hand and Mini, Novice, Intermediate, Open and Part Bred Ridden Champions and
Reserve Champions will qualifier for the Final Championship to be held in the Autumn. Open to SWA
members only, current membership badges must be worn.
SWA YOUNG HANDLER OF THE YEAR AWARD. The highest placed SWA of WPCS member in
classes 46 and 47 will qualify for the Young Handler of the Year final to be held at the SWA of WPCS Welsh
Champion of the Year Show in the Autumn. The Young Handler must produce their Membership badge in the
ring to qualify.
THE MILLCROFT STUD GELDING ROSETTES CHAMPIONSHIP, The Welsh Pony & Cob Gelding
Incentive Scheme, will be awarded to the in hand Champion and Reserve Champion Gelding generously
sponsored by the Millcroft Stud. To be competed for by the highest placed geldings from each appropriate
class within Sections A, B, C & D.
THE NATIONAL WELSH & WELSH PART-BRED CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW.
In Hand: The Champion and Reserve Champion in hand for Section A, B, C, D and Part-Bred will qualify for
the National Supreme In-Hand Brightwells Championships. In the event of either having previously qualified
then the qualification will pass to the 2nd Reserve in the Championship.
The Champion and Reserve GELDING Champion in hand for Section A, B, C, D and Part-Bred will qualify
for the National Supreme In-Hand Gelding Sarum Investments Ltd Championships. In the event of either
having previously qualified then the qualification will pass to the 2nd Reserve in the Championship.
Ridden: The 1st & 2nd prize winners in the Lead Rein (class 56) and First Ridden (class 57) will qualify for the
National Welsh LR/FR Championship. Open Ridden (classes 66 to 69), will qualify for the applicable National
Supreme Brynseion Championships. The 1st & 2nd prize winners in the Welsh Part Bred (classes 52 to 55) will
qualify for the National Supreme Dengie Ridden Welsh Part-Bred Championships. In the event of any of the
ponies having previously qualified then the qualification can be awarded to the next eligible pony.
The National Welsh & Welsh Part-Bred Championship Show is to be held at the Three Counties Showground,

NPS MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND QUALIFYING ROUNDS. These classes are judged under the rules
of the NPS. Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain and Moorland Stud
Books. Part breds are not eligible. Qualifying rounds for most NPS competitions are open to ponies owned by
NPS members and non members and at Breed Shows ponies can qualify for the final even if their owners are
not NPS members . The owner of a pony qualifying at a Breed Show must become an NPS Qualifying
member for the pony to enter the final at the NPS Summer Championship Show. At Breed Shows ponies can
win Silver Medal Rosettes even if their owners are not NPS members but they must become NPS Qualifying
members to enter the final. The highest placed pony in each class will qualify for the final. Qualification
may pass down to third place if the first and second ponies are already qualified. The Show will send in a
return with the information on the entry form of the qualifying ponies to the NPS office. So ensure that you
have completed the3 entry form in full with all the information requested.

under NPS Rules. If the Champion pony has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette, the
qualification can be awarded no lower than first Reserve (third). Foals are not eligible for Silver Medal
Championships. If the Owner of the qualifying pony is not a NPS Qualifying or Life member they must become
one to enter the final. The final of the Silver Medal Rosette Championship will be held at the NPS Summer
Championship Show 5 –7 August 2014.

The Show will send in a return with the information on the entry form of the qualifying ponies to the NPS
office. So ensure that you have completed the entry form in full with all the information requested. Six
ponies to be stripped in each class not necessarily the first six except for Lead Rein and First Ridden where
no ponies will be stripped.
To be judged under the rules of the National Pony Society. A copy of the complete rules for the
competitions are available on receipt of a SAE from the NPS or free of charge on the NPS website
www.nationalponysociety.com.
Mares with a living foal born during the current season are not eligible. Part-breds are not eligible. Rider any
age except for stallions where the rider must have attained their 12th birthday before 1st January of the current
year for Sections A and B and 14th birthday for Sections C and D. See page 4 for details of qualifying.

A pony is not eligible to compete if, before 1 January in the current year, it has done any of the following:
i) Won an open NPS affiliated mixed Mountain and Moorland Ridden class
ii) Won a ridden class at an Olympia, HOYS or RIHS qualifying round
iii) Qualified for HOYS or RIHS Ridden Classes
iv) Qualified for the M&M Novice or Intermediate Ridden final at the NPS Summer
Championship Show. Note: Ponies can compete as novices in this competition for two
consecutive years provided they do not submit an entry to the final in the first year.
v) Qualified for the M&M Ridden Championship final at Olympia in previous years.
vi) If a pony qualifies for HOYS or RIHS in its second year it is immediately denoviced and

NPS Summer Championship Show held at Malvern in August. Once a pony has qualified for this Final it may
not compete in any further novice WHP classes at NPS Affiliated Shows.

Championship

RULES
1.
The Organisers and each of the Show's officers, servants or agents shall not be in any way responsible or
accountable for any loss, injury or damage that may happen (from any cause or circumstances whatever) to
exhibitors or their servants or agents or other members of the public, to any animal or property or to any
vehicle brought onto the Showground, or on premises used in conjunction with the Show, or while entering
or leaving the same or otherwise for anything else in conjunction with, or arising out of, or attributable to the
Show.
2.
The decision of the judge is final. Any member or exhibitor wishing to lodge a protest having reference to
any person or exhibit shall do so in writing to the Show Secretary and shall at the same time deposit the sum
of £10. If on investigation by the Show Committee the protest is not sustained, the deposit will be forfeited
to the funds of the Show. All protests shall be delivered within half an hour of the incident.
3.
The Organisers reserve the right to amend the Judge's Panel and Order of Classes if it should become
necessary.
4.
All entries must be entered in the A, B, C D or Welsh Part-Bred Register EXCEPT for classes 47 and 48
(Young Handlers) and some Driving Classes. X section of the Stud Book and Foundation Stock cannot
compete but FS 1 and FS 2 may. All stud book registration numbers must be given on the entry form.
5.
Relevant classes are eligible for points towards the Welsh Pony & Cob Society Performance Award Scheme,
the South Western Association Performance and In Hand Award Schemes.
6.
The Committee reserves the right to cancel/amalgamate any Class with less than three entries.
7.
The Committee reserves the right to retain all or part of the entry fees in the event of the show being
cancelled.
8.
NO MANES OR TAILS OF PURE BREDS TO BE PLAITED, optional for Part Breds.
9.
It is the Exhibitors' responsibility to ensure they are ready to enter the ring at the appropriate time.
10.
Ponies must be the bona fide property of the Exhibitor or officially leased.
11.
Riders must wear correctly secured current British Standards skull caps/riding hats at all times when
mounted. Spurs are not permitted. Showing canes can be no more than 30 inches long.
12.
All dogs must be kept on a lead.
13.
Exhibitors should not enter an animal when that animal will be judged by a person who is the breeder or
who has had an financial interest in the animal.
14
NO nominations or substitutions will be permitted.
15.
Exhibitors are requested not to bring any coughing pony to the Show and may be requested to remove any
such animal.
16.
Barren mare, for the purpose of showing, is a mare which has not produced a foal and will not produce a
foal in the current year.
17.
Brood mares to have foaled not less than 3 weeks before the date of the Show and to be accompanied by
their own foal. Foals must be accompanied by their dam.
18.
Pure-Bred foals may only be entered in one class.
19.
All cups and trophies remain the property of the South Western Association of the Welsh Pony & Cob
Society and must be returned to the Show Secretary. They may only be signed for and collected by an adult
SWA member ON RECEIPT OF A £10 DEPOSIT and remain the responsibility of the winner whilst in their
possession. Any person who has had a SWA cup or trophy in the past and has not returned it by the time of
the next show may not be allowed to take away any cup or trophy that they have been awarded.
20.
Colts and Stallions to be licensed in accordance with The Welsh Pony & Cob Society rules.
21.
No change of rider/handler will be allowed throughout the class without the judges permission.
22.
Exhibitors entering classes which may clash do so at their own risk, no entry fees will be refunded.
23.
The organisers reserve the right to refuse any entry without giving a reason.
24.
Handlers of ponies in In Hand classes aged 14 years and under must wear correctly secured current British
standard skull caps/riding hats.
25.
The show committee strongly recommends that competitors have adequate third party insurance.
