Lindsay Continues to Build on Client Relationships
We take great pride in having a solid roster of loyal
clients who turn to Lindsay Construction for all of
their design and construction requirements throughout Atlantic Canada. We credit our teams’ commitment to professionalism, transparency, and high
standards for the great working relationships we’re
able to forge. Ultimately it’s the process, not just the
results, that verifies Lindsay as your optimal Building

With 14 locations, family discount store Giant Tiger serves communities across the Maritimes with
Lindsay Construction as their building partner of
choice for the majority of stores. From renovation
projects to full Design-Build services, The Lindsay
Team has worked with Giant Tiger in producing
additional locations for the past five years including
the recent completion of a new 25,000 sq. ft. store
in New Glasgow and an expansion and renovation
of the Truro outlet. Paul Morin, Giant Tiger Project
Manager, has a great deal of confidence in The Lindsay Construction Team. “I know that Lindsay always has Giant Tiger’s best interests in mind. They fully
understand what it takes to create a store – they think
like us. They create relationships in the communities
we go into, employing local teams, so it really limits the
work our office has to do. On the East Coast, Lindsay is
really one of the best builders – they’re the perfect fit.”
Starbucks
Like their world famous coffee, Starbucks locations
come in all sizes. Lindsay Construction has provided
services for a series of new Starbucks stores from “tall”
to “grandé”. Recent projects include a kiosk-style location inside the Halifax Ferry Terminal, an 1,860 sq. ft.
location in Dartmouth Gate, and new locations in Halifax Shopping Centre and near Larry Uteck Boulevard in
Bedford. While size and interiors vary, all locations are
built to LEED® standard, and required complex logistics to manage challenging timelines and a multitude of
corporate-supplied materials.

harles Dyer, President of Sovereign Asset

Oil Change location for New Brunswick Franchisee Jeremy Power. With the successful completion
in 2011 of a new construction project for Pro Oil
on Mountain Road (Moncton) Charles turned to
Lindsay’s NB Team again. But early site work revealed that the Rothesay Pro Oil plan was in for
some changes of its’ own.
The unusually high water table and soil bearing capacity at the site on Rothesay Avenue meant
the conventional drive-in design with open, underground service areas for while-you-wait car
care wasn’t an option. Lindsay Project Manager
Andrew Myers modified the design to accommodate service lifts by supporting the foundation
on insulation to offset the weight of the building
without compromising the curb appeal of Pro
Oil’s signature curved entrance and single-storey
layout. To help offset costs of additional site prep
Andrew implemented the replacement of standard
epolyc panel skin with EIFS panels as a cost saving
measure, yet still maintaining the “Pro Oil” look.
Charles appreciated the Lindsay solutions:
“This was a complicated project – even with our
own in-house expertise we knew it would be better
to go with Lindsay for this Design-Build. Being
out of province, we really relied on Lindsay’s professionalism and expertise. I was able to dial into
a weekly conference call knowing there was tight
timing and budget control on site. Everything
came together quickly and went smoothly, with
very few Change Orders.”

n any given night you’ll find a hip, discerning crowd enjoying inventive drinks and gourmet, wood-fired pizzas at Morris East Restaurant
in downtown Halifax. The restaurant has its’ own
loyal following and a great reputation. When Jennie Dobbs decided to build on success and bring
the same urban, modern experience to a suburban
location on Nine Mile Drive she turned to Lindsay
Construction.
The second location gave Jennie a chance to
do some things differently. An open kitchen allows
patrons to interact with her chefs, and additional
equipment supports a more diverse menu. The restaurant seats 100, and Jennie also added a dedicated
take-out space which many Bedford West families
appreciate, relying on the online ordering service for an
office lunch or weeknight dinner.
Another significant difference between the two locations was Jennie’s construction approach. “The first
time, I project-managed the entire process,” she explains. “I was on a tight budget and did it all myself. But
this time Lindsay led the project and took the anxiety
and stress right out of it. Their team was amazing and
was very proactive, while also being really professional.
Lindsay was fantastic.”
The space features vinyl plank floors, blonde wood
walls and table tops, a cozy lounge area with a wine
display wall, exposed ductwork, pot lighting and Morris East’s signature red in the wall tile and chairs. The
design-forward eatery is a welcome splash of urban chic
for eager suburban foodies.
