ENROLLMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Seminole County Virtual School (SCVS) offers a full range of courses that meet the needs of Seminole County students.
Students may enroll in SCVS as a full-time public school student, home school student, or private school student.
Public School Enrollment
Students enrolled in a Seminole County public school may elect to take their courses through SCVS. Students can
combine any number of virtual school courses and traditional brick-and-mortar courses to equal a full day. Students
should meet with their guidance counselor for details. Students may also choose to enroll in SCVS as a full-time student
taking all their courses through SCVS and earning their high school diploma through SCVS. Please note that all students
who wish to be considered for the public school enrollment option must attend ALL district and state-required testing.
Students must contact the SCVS to be considered for full-time enrollment.
Home School Enrollment
Students enrolled in home school may select up to six courses through SCVS to meet their educational needs at no cost
to the parent. Students are not considered public school students and will not earn a high school diploma. Please
contact SCVS if interested in earning a high school diploma while schooling at home.
Private School Enrollment
Students enrolled in private schools located in Seminole County who also reside in Seminole County may take up to six
courses through SCVS at no cost to the parent. Private schools may also choose to utilize SCVS as their curriculum choice
with no cost to the school. Please call SCVS for more details.
PROGRAM OFFERINGS
SCVS offers course work for students grades K-12. Please refer to the appropriate section to determine which program
your child would like to enroll.
K-5 Options – Seminole Academy of Digital Learning (SADL)
This program is offered to students enrolled in grades K-5. Students are considered full-time public school students.
SADL offers a full curriculum with local SCPS teachers and support. All students must take district and state-required
assessments. For more information, please contact SCVS to schedule an appointment.
Middle School Options
Middle school students have the option to take virtual school as part of their daily schedule or as a full-time student.
Students who wish to take virtual courses and remain enrolled at their brick-and-mortar school should contact their
guidance counselor to discuss options. Students interested in enrolling in virtual school full-time should contact SCVS
before withdrawing from their zoned schools. Students who enroll in virtual school full-time must meet the same
requirements outlined in the SCPS Student Progression Plan (SPP). The SPP can be found here. Students must take six
classes to be considered full-time and must pass all core classes plus maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 in all classes to be
eligible for promotion. Students may be eligible for acceleration options. For more information please contact SCVS.

ENROLLMENT PROCEDURES
All full-time public school students and home school part-time students must make an appointment with SCVS to select
courses. Once courses have been selected, staff will give parents and students directions about how to enroll in courses.
There are a number of ways in which students can be enrolled in virtual school classes as listed below:
Public School
ePathways – Elementary School Students:
Elementary students enrolled in SCPS may take the elementary virtual school program as part of their regular school day
with permission of the school’s administrative team. If you are considering this option for your student please make an
appointment with your zoned school administrative team to discuss options, availability, and scheduling.
ePathways – Middle and High School:
Students enrolled in SCPS may take virtual classes as part of their seven-period day. Students wishing to enroll as part of
the ePathways initiative should contact their guidance counselors prior to enrollment. Guidance counselors will work
with students and parents to make decisions about courses in which they should enroll and will give parents and
students directions about how to sign up for classes. If a student is enrolling in an SCVS virtual course which is offered in
partnership with Florida Virtual School (FLVS), students and parents will be given directions about how to enroll in these
classes. When selecting courses offered in partnership with FLVS, it is important for students and parents to select
Seminole County Virtual School in the drop down menu in the FLVS system. Parents must approve the FLVS partnered
courses prior to the school approving the course and changing the student’s schedule in our Student Management
System, Skwyard. No student will be class assigned until Skyward reflects the change in the student’s schedule.
Full-time SADL (Elementary Students):
To be considered a full-time student, the student and parent must have met with the SCVS and/or SADL staff and
officially enrolled as a full-time SADL student. Staff will assist parents with selection of coursework.
5
SCVS Full-time (Middle and High School Students):
To be considered a full-time student, the student and parent must have met with SCVS staff and officially enrolled as a
full-time SCVS student. Students enrolled in SCVS full-time should use the course request forms found online and choose
the appropriate courses for the 2014-2015 school year. Students and parents will be given directions on how to enroll.
SCVS guidance staff will assure that the appropriate course work for the student’s grade level is assigned.
Home School Procedures
Students should be enrolled with Seminole County’s Home School Office by filling out the home school enrollment form.
The form can be found on the home school website.
Elementary - Seminole Academy of Digital Learning (SADL) Options
Parents should contact SCVS to schedule an appointment to discuss virtual school options. If parents would like to
register in home school using virtual curriculum, this can be done in the SCVS office. Parents may select to participate
full-time or part-time in the SADL program, however, students must remain on pace with course work.
Middle and High School - SCVS Options
Home school students participating in virtual school through SCVS will be enrolled in courses in partnership with FLVS
and other vendors. SCVS staff will give parents and students directions about how to enroll in these classes. Those
students taking SCVS classes in partnership with FLVS classes will receive a home school verification letter by mail that
must be faxed to FLVS at 407-520-5479. After creating a parent and student account, courses may be selected. The
parent acts as counselor and may select any course they choose to meet their educational goals. Parents may also
choose to contact the SCVS office for assistance with choosing which courses are appropriate for their student’s grade
level. If you are interested in schooling at home but earning a high school diploma, please call 407-871-7287 for an
appointment. (Staff members will give parents directions to access course work offered by other vendors.)
Private School Procedures (Middle and High School)
Private school students taking SCVS course work must contact the guidance counselor at the school to decide which
courses the student should enroll in. SCVS staff will provide parents, students, and guidance counselors with directions
about how to enroll in courses. If the student takes SCVS courses in partnership with FLVS, parents will approve the
course, and the student is then class-assigned by SCVS. Private schools wishing to use SCVS courses as their curriculum
should contact SCVS prior to enrollment.
GRACE PERIOD
Students have a 14-day grace period for each course in which they are enrolled. Students may drop the course or be
withdrawn (WNG) from the course without penalty during this period. Students are required to meet a minimum
progress of 5% of the overall course for each week enrolled. Students who fail to meet this minimum progress will
receive a WNG. Public school students who earn a WNG may be required to enroll in an alternate course or required to
re-enroll in their brick-and-mortar school. Students who withdraw from a course after the 14-day grace period will
receive an F for the course which will go on the student’s transcripts. All active enrollments must be completed before
the last day of school. No active enrollments that are out of the grace period will be transferred to FLVS.
6
TRUANCY
Students who fail to meet the minimum pace requirements may be subject to truancy discipline. Students who are
truant at their zoned schools may enroll with SCVS as a truant student, however, the student must follow strict pacing
guidelines and attendance to face-to-face meetings.
FACE-TO-FACE
SCVS offers students the opportunity to meet with each teacher at least once a month in a face-to-face setting. SCVS will
provide a lab where students can complete assignments or discussion-based assessments (DBAs). These meetings are
not required (unless under truancy discipline) for enrollment.
