MONDAY 9TH JUNE—PUBLIC HOLIDAY
Our inter-school cross country team for next Tuesday‟s event has now been finalised. Thank you to
Kylie Broadbent for organising and training the team and good luck to all competitors on the day.
Congratulations also to Liam Young and Caitlin Macdonald who have been named School Cross
Country Team Captains for 2014. Can all participating students please remember to come prepared for
the event next Tuesday 10th June, after the long weekend?
Fronter is a virtual learning environment (VLE) platform that we are now using and it is fully supported
by the education department. Some of our class groups and specialist teachers now have VLE pages set
up that can be accessed by students and parents at home. The easiest way to access these is by searching
for „VLE Fronter‟, then clicking on the education.tas link and then clicking again on the next Fronter VLE
link. This will take you to the website and ask you for a username and password. You can use your
child‟s school username and password to logon to our School Fronter site. You can then find a class or
specialist page to have a look at. These pages include, information about what‟s happening in classrooms
or specialist areas, interactive links to school related work and general information about upcoming
events.
Rehearsals for our school musical „Frozen‟ are in full swing with the stage in the GP Room starting to
look ready for the full production to take place. I would like to thank all parents and volunteers who
helped paint the stage last weekend and also parent Gerry Tyson who built the new stage for the show.
Thank you one and all!

SPSSA INTER-SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY—TUESDAY 1OTH JUNE
Good luck to the 48 students selected to represent Taroona Primary at the inter-school cross country
which is to be held next Tuesday at Geilston Bay High School commencing at 10.45am-1.15pm. Athletes
have been training very hard for the last fortnight and should be commended for their commitment at all
training sessions. With so many talented athletes at Taroona Primary, it is unfortunate that several
students will have to miss out attending the carnival as all are worthy of a place in the school team.
Please do not forget your gear for Tuesday after the long weekend.
TASMANIAN ALL SCHOOLS CROSS COUNTRY—SYMMONS PLAINS
Entry forms and information will be distributed to all interested students next week wishing to compete
in this event which is to be held on Wednesday 25th June at Symmons Plains Raceway.

Paying levies by BPay
When paying levies by BPay please remember to check the BPay Reference number on invoices as
these are unique to each individual invoice, it is therefore necessary to enter the exact reference
number as indicated on the invoice. A drawback of online banking is that a debtor‟s details and
reference number can be retained for future use. Failing to change the reference number means that
payment can be made to the wrong school, especially if a student has changed schools.
Thank you for your assistance with this.

A really good performance from the boys. They
are starting to work well together and
implementing training into games. Well done
boys
Goals: Theo Chilcott 3, Mark Staikos 3, Jack
Dalton 3, Archer Ibbott, Charlie Parnham, Isaac
Scott, Mitchell Hardy
Great effort girls, tough game in freezing
conditions. You demonstrated some great
defense in the second half
Good fair game by both teams – could have gone
either way and score line biased due to two late
Taroona goals.
Came up against a very strong and well
organised opposition this week. All our players
battled hard and never gave up which showed
great character and leadership. We will regroup
and be back with skill and enthusiasm after the
break. Well done all.
We lost in the last minute of the game. All the
girls played really well, with player of the day
being Jess.
A wonderful team effort. Lots of excellent
strategic play from Oliver, Luca and Tom. Great
saves in goal by Archie and Max. Good field
coverage from Spencer and super slick moves
from Ben!
An impressive effort by the girls this week. Caty
was very solid in defense and had outstanding
support from Lucy, Freya & Adelle. Caitlyn & Ava
played well in goals. Millie & Adelle both scored
goals.
The boys played really well and had their first win
of the season, 14-2 against Friends. It was a
great team effort with the boys continuing to
make improvements across a number of areas
practiced at training, including controlling the ball,
passing & forward play. Well done boys!
Fantastic effort to come from 3 - 1 down to win 4 3 against Waimea. Goal scorers Cara, Isabelle,
Ava and Alice. Best game yet from Asia and Lily
and solid work from Kiri and Sarah. Everyone
played well.
“Another great game by the boys which showcased their teamwork, passing and tackling skills.
Well done.”
A great game with lots of passing to each other
and team spirit.
The boys are improving every game playing well
as a team. Some great passages of play with all
boys contributing.

A
SAFER ROAD FOR ALL CHANNEL HIGHWAY USERS
The “iconic” Channel Highway running over Bonnet Hill is now a busy road with ever
increasing traffic. It is also the main cycling route between Kingborough and Hobart. This
narrow double-lined road has become inadequate.
Early in 2013, DIER successfully installed a cycle lane from
Browns River Bridge to Proctors Road intersection.
It is imperative that the cycle lane is now continued along the
Channel Highway from Proctors Road to Baringa Road, Taroona.
For a safer, better road over Bonnet Hill
