This course will explore a wide selection of British
literature - fiction, poetry and drama - in order to
understand the differing perspectives, contexts, subject
matter and styles of British writing. We will combine
focused close reading with wider appreciation.

Wildlife Walks in Spring
Visits to interesting and varied public places where
wildlife and nature can be seen, heard, felt, tasted or
potentially seen. The visits will be informal and
relaxed.
Walking boots/stout shoes and outdoor clothing will be
required.

Exploring Medieval Townships
Shrewsbury and Ludlow
This short course will explore the Archaeology and
Architecture of medieval townships through a study of
Shrewsbury and Ludlow. It will consist of one
classroom based session and two full-day study tours
of the two Shropshire towns.

Music of Cities and Landscapes
Ranging from Prague to Paris, London to New York,
Rome to Vienna, there can be an almost inseparable
link between city and music, similarly with sea and
landscapes. On this course we shall travel widely and
let a contrasted range of music enhance the various
cities and landscapes en route.
