DRAFT AMENDMENTS TO LOCAL PLANNING POLICIES Cuppa with a Councillor sessions are held on the first Tuesday of each month (with the exception of November). During these sessions City of Busselton Councillors are available to meet with members of the public to discuss any issues relating to City business. To accommodate the needs of all participants and improve the opportunity for dialogue, individuals or small groups can now pre-book time with attending Councillors. Four by 15 minute timeslots are available for booking during Cuppa with the Councillor sessions which run from 11.00am to 12.00pm. Development Contribution Policy Pursuant to Clause 103 of District Town Planning Scheme No. 20 Council has adopted, for the purposes of community consultation, the following draft local planning policy provisions: 6F – Drainage Infill Contributions Provisions. 8C – Storm Water Management Policy Provisions. The draft Policy Provisions seek to: 1. Update the volumetric capacity of stormwater to be retained on a lot as a result of development; 2. Specify ‘on lot’ measures to improve the quality of stormwater entering the City’s drainage system and the environment, consistent with contemporary water sensitive urban design measures; 3. Update and revise the methodology for developer contributions for upgrading of the City’s local and main drainage system where the target level of ‘on lot’ retention of stormwater is impractical or where subdivision and development will contribute to the need to upgrade public infrastructure; 4. Ensure the policy provisions integrate with existing Building Code of Australia requirements, Australian Standards and Engineering Technical Specifications for ease of use. The purpose of the Heritage List is to identify places of cultural heritage significance and worthy of conservation under the provisions of the Scheme. The purpose of the Municipal Heritage Inventory is to identify and record cultural heritage sites within the City, including places of cultural heritage significance protected under public ownership or management. TELL YOUR HERITAGE STORY The City of Busselton’s Municipal Heritage Inventory (MHI) provides a record of places of cultural heritage significance to our local community. The MHI has been reviewed and a draft is advertised for public comment, however, the City needs your help to update listing information. If you own or have significant knowledge of a local heritage site listed in the MHI, please consider making a submission to provide up to date details and additional heritage information not yet recorded. Your submission can help the City to build the MHI as a record of significant places and representation of our shared community history. Ten significant contributions will be chosen, with submitters winning a copy of the book ‘Outstation on the Vasse’, which provides an account of Busselton in pioneering times. To be eligible, please make your submission in writing to the Chief Executive Officer, Locked Bag 1, Busselton WA 6280 prior to close of business 26 February 2013, quoting City reference PO13/07. Please provide evidence to verify information wherever possible, and note that the City reserves the right to publish information as considered appropriate. What is YAC? YAC stands for Youth Advisory Council. The Youth Advisory Council will meet to discuss ideas and plans for upcoming events and projects run by members of YAC. Whether it’s mountain biking trips, camping or even hiking we organise these activities as well as so much more! When? Our first hangout and meeting will be on Friday the 14th of February from 3:30pm till 5:00pm. Where? We will meet at the Busselton Youth and Community Centre, corner of High Street & Bussell Highway. We respectfully request that visitor’s park in the main parking lot. Visitors with mobility issues are invited to drive into the Cemetery grounds along designated roads. The Cemetery gates will be open from 8.30am to 3.00pm daily. Please use caution when driving within the cemetery: • Do not exceed the 25kph limit; • Use the bitumised roads only; • Give pedestrians the right of way; • Park responsibly. General Cemetery Guidelines: • Please treat all elements within the cemetery with dignity and respect. • Working Assistance Dogs are welcome. Leave your pets at home. • Floral tributes are welcome within the cemetery. • Use only non-breakable vases. • Use only cut flowers. • Retain all tributes within your boundaries. • Unfortunately, all non-conforming tributes will be removed. Children’s Cemetery Garden: Recognising the need for somewhere special for local families to grieve the loss of a small child, miscarried or still born baby, the Children’s Cemetery Garden has been open since 19 November 2012.
