Instructions to Authors
1. Authors should follow the latest “Instructions to
Authors” in the journal webpage (http://www.jjbotany.
com/toukoukitei/index.htm).
2. The Journal of Japanese Botany accepts manuscripts
related to systematic botany, pharmacognosy and
related disciplines.
3. Manuscripts for reviews, original articles, notes,
news, book reviews and obituaries either in English or
Japanese including Latin are acceptable. The Editorial
Board decides which manuscripts are appropriate in
these categories.
4. Contributors should prepare manuscripts consulting
recent issues of this journal (http://www.jjbotany.
com/) to follow the style required. Footnotes are not
accepted. If additional notes are necessary, mark the
spot with a numeral in single parenthesis, and present
explanations as endnotes in an annex following the
text. Headings of introduction and acknowledgements
are not required. Grants-in-Aid should be noted in the
acknowledgements.
5. On the first page, write the title, author(s), affiliation(s)
and address(es), E-mail address(es) and number of
offprints (multiples of 50) must be written on separate
lines. Also, full name, address, phone number and fax
number and E-mail address for corresponding author
should be written.
6. Manuscripts of reviews, original articles or notes in
both of English and Japanese must be accompanied by
an abstract (summary). This should be one paragraph,
usually not more than 200 words. Ten or less keywords
(or short phrases such as ‘adaptive radiation’) are also
required. Continuing articles must be indicated by the
previous publication at the end of the summary.
7. Scientific names are indicated with italic font. Authors
of scientific names, should follow The International
Plant Names Index·Authors <http://www.ipni.org/
ipni/authorsearch.do>. Multiple authors of scientific
names should be jointed with “&” not with “et”.
8. For abbreviations of herbaria, consult the website
(http://sciweb.nybg.org/science2/IndexHerbariorum.
asp).
9. References should be cited as, for example,
(Tanaka1989a), Tanaka (1989a) or (McNeill et al. 2006,
Ohashi and Iokawa 2006) in the text. Accumulated
references or literature cited are at the end of text.
They should be arranged in alphabetical order of
author, with texts by the same author(s) ordered by
year of publication as exemplified below. Full citation
is requested. Abbreviations of journal names should
follow Botanico-Periodicum-Huntianum, ed. 2
(Pittsburgh: Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation
2004) or databases of Harvard University Herbaria
(http://kiki. huh.harvard.edu/databases/).

10. Figures, tables and photographs should be arranged on
A4 size paper. Indicate the scale of figures by measure
or bar. Units of measurement should be in the metric
system. Ensure every figure, table and photograph has
an explanatory caption. Put these explanations on a
separate sheet. Figure numbers on the lower left corner
are preferred.
11. Authors will receive 50 offprints free of charge and
a PDF file. Additional offprints can be obtained at
the author’s expense only when requested on the
manuscript. Offprints of news, book reviews and
obituaries, can be obtained at the author’s expense.
Color printing is available at the author’s expense.
12. The authors are responsible for reading the first galley
proof.
13. Authors should submit manuscripts by electronic
ways in principle. Send Microsoft files of Microsoft
Office Word form for text, Word, Excel or PDF for
tables, preferable to Word, PDF, JPEG, or Adobe
Photoshop form for figures to the following E-mail
address in principle. Manuscripts and inquiries should
be sent to Kazunori Hashimoto, the Editorial Board
of The Journal of Japanese Botany, Tsumura & Co.

14. The manuscript submitted is evaluated by two or three
independent reviewers selected by the Editorial Board.
On the basis of their reports, the manuscript is either
accepted or rejected. The Editorial Board retains the
right to decide the order of publication of submitted
papers and to alter their style.
15. The copyright of this journal is held by the Editorial
Board of The Journal of Japanese Botany. The
“Copyright Transfer Statement” (CTS) will be
attached to the proofs, which will be provided after
the manuscript has been accepted for publication. The
CTS has to be signed and sent back together with the
corrected proofs.
投稿規定
1．本誌 web ページの最新の投稿規定を参照すること
(http://www.jjbotany.com/toukoukitei/index.htm)．
2．（投稿範囲）本誌には植物分類学，生薬学，および
それらに関連する分野の学術論文を投稿することが
できる．
3．（原稿の種類）本誌に投稿できる原稿は英文，和文（ラ
テン文を含む）のいずれでもよい．原稿は総説，原著，
短報とし，その範疇は編集委員会が決定する．その
他に 2 に則した新刊，追悼，ニュースなどを登載す
る．
4．（原稿の体裁）原稿は web ページ掲載のものを含め
た本誌最新号を参照し簡潔に記す．脚注は用いない．
注を必要とする箇所には片括弧つき数字を付し，本
文末尾に一括して説明を記す．序論と謝辞の見出し
はつけない．補助金関係は謝辞の中に記す．
5．（原稿の表紙）英文および和文で題名，著者名，所属，
住所，電子メールアドレス，必要とする別刷数（50
の倍数）の順に行を改めて記した表紙をつける．表
紙の下部に原稿に関する連絡先の氏名，住所，電話
番号，Fax 番号，電子メールアドレスを記す．
6．（要旨）日本語論文には 1 段落で構成される原則 200
語以内の英文要旨，英文論文には同様に構成される
原則 400 字以内の和文要旨をつける．総説と原著の
論文には 10 語以内の英語キーワードを要旨の次に
つける．継続論文の場合は，英文要旨の末尾に直前
の掲載誌名，巻，頁，年を (Continued from …) の
ように記す．
7．（学名の表記）学名はイタリックで表記する．学名
の著者名は The International Plant Names Index の
ホームページのうち Authors (http://www.ipni.org/
ipni/authorsearch.do) に従う．学名著者が複数の場
合は “&” で結び，“et” は用いない．
8．（標本の引用）標本館の略号は Holmgren P. K.,
Holmgren N. H. and Barnett L. C. (eds. ), Index
Herbariorum. 8th edition (The New York Botanical
Garden Press, New York, 1990) ないし同ホームペー
ジ (http://sciweb.nybg.org/science2/IndexHerbariorum.
asp) に従う．
9．（文献引用）文中での文献の引用は例えば (McNeill
et al. 2006), (Ohashi 2005), (Ohashi and Iokawa
2006), (Ohwi 1965a) または Ohwi (1965a), (McNeill
et al. 2006, Ohashi and Iokawa 2006) などとする．
参考文献は第一著者名の ABC 順，年代順に並べる．
共著者の表示は英文規定の例にならう．姓を先頭に
し，姓の後ろにはコンマをつけない．姓以外の名は
第 1 字のみでピリオドをつける．文献名は表題，誌
名，巻号頁をすべて記し，英文規定の例にならう．
雑誌名の略記は原則として，Botanico-PeriodicumHuntianum ed. 2 ( Pittsburgh: Hunt Institute for
Botanical Documentation 2004) またはハーバード
大学標本館のデータベース (http://kiki.huh.harvard.
edu/databases/) に従う．
10．（図表）図，表，写真は A4 サイズに収まるように
作成し，説明は原則として英文とする．読者の理解
を助けるため，和文説明を加えて良い．説明文は図，
表，写真にそれぞれつけるほか，すべての説明文を
まとめて別紙に記す．図中に倍率を目盛またはバー
で明示する．図の番号・記号は左下に入れること．
11．（別刷およびカラー印刷）総説，原著，短報に限り
別刷 50 部および PDF ファイルは無料，それより多
い場合は著者負担とする．ニュース等の別刷は実費
を著者が負担する場合に限って作成する．カラー印
刷は，実費を著者負担とする．
12．（校正）著者校正は初校のみとし，再校以降は編集
委員会が行う．
13．（原稿の送り方）投稿は原則として電子投稿とし，
テキストは Microsoft Office Word ファイル，表は
Word，もしくは Excel ファイル，図は JPEG，PDF，
Word もしくは Adobe Photoshop もしくは PDF ファ
イルを以下のメールアドレスに送ること．紙原稿に
よる投稿の場合には原稿は図，表を含め 3 部を送付
すること．原稿は返却しない．図，表はあらかじめ
その旨明記してある場合に限り返却する．原稿は「〒
300-1192 茨城県稲敷郡阿見町吉原 3586 株式会社
ツムラ植物研究雑誌編集委員会　橋本和則（電子メ
ール：[email protected]）」宛に送付すること．
14．（原稿の採否）投稿原稿の採否は，編集委員会の選
んだ 2–3 名の査読者の意見を参照して，編集委員会
が決定する．登載する順序や体裁は，編集委員会が
決定する．
15．（著作権）本誌に発表された論文の著作権は植物研
究雑誌編集委員会に帰属する．論文の採用後，著作
権移譲書 (Copyright Transfer Statement) が著者校
正と共に送付されるので，同書に署名し著者校正と
共に返送すること．
