Exterior views
The Klimahaus® Bremerhaven 8° Ost: The flowing shape of the 125m long and almost 30 m high
building in Bremerhaven’s new tourist quarter “Havenwelten” resembles a cloud or a stylised ship.

Journey
Switzerland
In Switzerland the path leads through craggy
rock formations, to the summit cross and into
the glacier cave which is actually frozen. It
smells of alpine meadows, cow and hay.

Sardinia
Visitors move around the second stop of the journey,
Sardinia, as if they had shrunk to the size of an insect
amongst oversized insects and blades of grass. The
butterfly effect is put to the test in the dented can.

Niger
In arid heat of up to 35°C
(98°F), visitors can
experience the expanses
of desert and the daily
life of the Tuareg in
Niger.

Cameroon
In this riverscape, visitors will come across exotic fish which
can be observed from a hanging bridge. A Klimahaus®
employee caught most of the fish himself in Cameroon and
transported them to Bremerhaven. The Klimahaus® animal
keepers are now breeding the next generation.

Antarctica
The polar climate of Antarctica means ice
cold – in this exhibition area, the walls and
the floor are covered with real ice and the
temperatures are below -6°C.
Photo: Florian Müller
Even though the visitors really get to feel
the cool climate, they do not need a scarf after a short walk, they will reach the
warmth of the polar station, which is
rebuilt true to the original.

Samoa
Through a green botanical canyon, visitors reach a sandy beach.
More than 30° C, warm sand and palm trees invite the visitors to
linger. A staircase leads to the aquaria of the exotic underwater
world of a fringing reef.
