Zweigniederlassung Bremerhaven operates the research icebreaker POLARSTERN on behalf of the Alfred-Wegener-Institut Helmholtz-Zentrum für Polarund Meeresforschung (AWI) in Bremerhaven Germany. To support of our Scientific Service team (WTB) on board the vessel we are looking for an electronic engineer Electronics (male/female) (graduate engineer) The scientific and technical operation includes the care of operational readiness, deployment and maintenance of the ship fixed electronic devices, systems and scientific equipment. This includes particularly support for scientists in the use of equipment and repairs. This includes the installation and integration of measurement systems with their connection to the ship's infrastructure (interfaces, network technology, modern sensor systems, data acquisition and processing), carrying out work in shipyard and the preparation and monitoring of service calls from contractors. Requirements: Flexibility, team spirit and ability to work independently Physical fitness and fitness for sea service Willingness to longer continuous sea operations Knowledge in repair of equipment Knowledge of radio, navigation equipment and hydro acoustic measuring systems are beneficial Good knowledge in German and English language.
