ForumZ est une nouvelle série de manifestations organisée par le Centre for Contemporary and Digital
History (C2DH). ForumZ sert de plate-forme pour un débat critique et ouvert sur des questions actuelles
en matière d’histoire contemporaine luxembourgeoise et européenne. Divers acteurs (archives, musées,
chercheurs, professeurs et enseignants) et tous les passionnés d’histoire sont cordialement conviés à
se joindre aux invités et aux experts pour discuter de thèmes d’actualité, d’importantes perspectives de
recherche, de nouvelles approches ou de nouvelles sources en histoire contemporaine.
Avant et pendant l’événement, les questions d’actualité envoyées par Twitter seront reprises et discutées. Pendant
l’événement, Twitter sera connecté et projeté en direct.

Contexte : les archives à l’ère du numérique
Les archives sont reconnues d’utilité publique et leur travail détermine la visibilité de
l’histoire ainsi que la façon dont elle est écrite et vécue. Les archives à l’ère du numérique
et la recherche de demain sont transparentes et participatives. À l’avenir, les archives et
la recherche seront de plus en plus souvent amenées à coopérer et à s’associer à différents
groupes sociaux dans leur travail sur et avec l’histoire.
Les archives et leur façon de collecter, répertorier et catégoriser du matériel sont en étroite interaction
avec les développements politiques, économiques, culturels, sociaux, scientifiques et technologiques.
La collecte, la sélection, la classification l’accessibilité et l’utilisation de sources historiques sont
déterminées par de nombreuses décisions et des contextes différents. À l’ère du numérique, des formes
participatives et transparentes de collecte, de création de données et de modes de représentation de
sources historiques peuvent lancer de toutes nouvelles façons d’écrire l’histoire. Ce qui signifie aussi,
qu’il faut ouvrir les archives au grand public et qu’il faut inciter ce dernier à participer à la collection et à la
description de sources historiques par de nouvelles formes de communication. Nous partons du principe
que l’interactivité entre les archives et la recherche, de même qu’entre les archives et le public, gagnera en
importance et en intensité. La responsabilité des archives et de la recherche n’en sera que plus essentielle.
Le travail collectif permettra de tenir de plus en plus compte de la diversité culturelle des sources
historiques et développera de nouvelles normes en matière d’inclusion, de participation, de transparence
et de coopération.
Objectifs et questions du #ForumZLu
sur les #Archivesforthefuture
Le #ForumZLu sur les archives à l’ère du numérique offre une plate-forme pour exprimer les doutes, les
espoirs, les peurs, les possibilités et pour renégocier les coopérations entre les archives et la recherche
ainsi qu’entre les archives et le public. C’est pourquoi, divers acteurs d’archives nationales, virtuelles et
privées sont réunis pour échanger points de vue et pratiques. Il s’agira d’examiner (1) la façon dont les
archives envisagent le rôle et la mission de leur activité (p.ex. accessibilité, implication du public, etc.), (2)
en quelle mesure les processus de numérisation et les archives virtuelles peuvent contribuer à atteindre
ces objectifs, (3) quels obstacles et quelles possibilités se présentent aux archives quant à la numérisation
de leurs collections, (4) à quel point une coopération entre les archives, le public et la recherche permet
de soutenir les objectifs de chacun, (5) de quelle manière les partenaires peuvent interagir pour faire du
Luxembourg un centre pour une historiographie innovante, participative et transparente.
Le #ForumZLu a pour objectif de faire collaborer étroitement les partenaires culturels et
académiques et souhaite ainsi créer des effets de synergie. L’événement #ForumZLu sur les
#Archivesforthefuture est un premier pas vers le développement d’une stratégie commune
pour l’avenir des archives et de la recherche historique au Luxembourg.
ForumZ ist eine neue Veranstaltungsreihe des Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital
History (C2DH). ForumZ (Z für Zeitgeschichte) ist eine Plattform für die kritische und offene Diskussion
aktueller Fragestellungen im Bereich der luxemburgischen und europäischen Zeitgeschichte. Diverse
Akteure (Archive, Museen, Forscher, Lehrer) und alle Geschichtsinteressierte sind herzlich eingeladen,
sich mit geladenen Gästen und Experten über aktuelle Themen, wichtige Forschungsperspektiven, neue
Herangehensweisen oder Quellen in der Zeitgeschichte zu diskutieren.
Vor und während der Veranstaltung werden aktuelle Fragen, die wir über Twitter erhalten, laufend aufgegriffen und zur
Diskussion gestellt. Während der Veranstaltung wird Twitter aktuell zugeschaltet und projiziert.

Hintergrund : Archive im digitalen Zeitalter
Archive stehen im öffentlichen Interesse und ihre Arbeit bestimmt die Sichtbarkeit der
Geschichte und wie sie geschrieben und erlebt wird. Archive im digitalen Zeitalter und die
Forschung der Zukunft sind transparent und partizipatorisch. Archive und Forschung werden
mehr und mehr kooperieren und verschiedene gesellschaftliche Gruppen in ihre Arbeit an
und mit der Geschichte einbinden.
Archive und die Art und Weise wie dort Materialien gesammelt, verzeichnet und kategorisiert werden
stehen in enger Wechselwirkung mit politischen, ökonomischen, kulturellen, sozialen, wissenschaftlichen
und technologischen Entwicklungen. Das Sammeln, die Auswahl, die Klassifizierung, die Zugänglichkeit
und Nutzung historischer Quellen wird durch viele Entscheidungen und Kontexte bestimmt. Im digitalen
Zeitalter können partizipatorische sowie transparente Formen des Sammelns, der Datengenerierung
und der Darstellungsweisen historischer Quellen radikal neue Möglichkeiten des Schreibens von
Geschichten initiieren. Dies bedeutet auch, Archive für die breite Öffentlichkeit zu öffnen und die
Öffentlichkeit durch neue Formen der Kommunikation am Sammeln und Beschreiben von historischen
Quellen zu beteiligen. Wir gehen davon aus, dass das Zusammenwirken zwischen Archiv und Forschung
sowie zwischen Archiv und Öffentlichkeit immer bedeutender und enger werden wird. Die Verantwortung
der Archive und der Forschung wird dabei drastisch steigen. Ihre gemeinsame Arbeit wird mehr und
mehr die kulturelle Vielfalt historischer Quellen berücksichtigen und neue Maßstäbe bezüglich Inklusion,
Partizipation, Transparenz und Kooperation entwickeln.
Ziele und Fragen des #ForumZLu über
#Archivesforthefuture
Das #ForumZLu über Archive im digitalen Zeitalter bietet eine Plattform für die Artikulation von
Zweifeln, Hoffnungen, Ängsten, Möglichkeiten und für die Neuverhandlung von Kooperationen
zwischen Archiv und Forschung sowie zwischen Archiv und Öffentlichkeit. Daher werden verschiedene
Akteure aus nationalen, virtuellen und privaten Archiven zu einem Meinungs- und Erfahrungsaustausch
zusammengebracht. Es soll diskutiert werden (1) wie Archive die Rolle und den Auftrag ihrer Tätigkeit
sehen (z. B. Zugänglichkeit, Einbindung der Öffentlichkeit etc.), (2) wie Digitalisierungsprozesse
und virtuelle Archive dazu beitragen können diese Ziele zu erreichen, (3) welche Hindernisse und
Möglichkeiten Archive in Bezug auf die Digitalisierung ihrer Bestände sehen, (4) wie eine Kooperation
zwischen Archiven, Öffentlichkeit und Forschung die gegenseitigen Ziele unterstützen kann und (5) wie
alle Partner zusammenwirken können um Luxemburg zu einem Zentrum für innovative, partizipatorische
und transparente Geschichtsschreibung zu machen.
Das #ForumZLu hat sich die intensive Zusammenarbeit von kulturellen und akademischen
Partnern zum Ziel gesetzt und möchte auf diese Weise Synergieeffekte erzeugen. Die Veranstaltung #ForumZLu über #Archivesforthefuture ist ein erster Schritt zu einer gemeinsam entwickelten Strategie für die Zukunft der Archive und der historischen Forschung in Luxemburg.
ForumZ is a new event series organized by the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History
(C2DH). ForumZ (Z for “Zeitgeschichte”, contemporary history) is a platform for a critical and open
discussion of current issues in contemporary Luxembourg and European history. Archives and museum
representatives, researchers, and teachers, as well as the interested public are warmly invited to join our
invited guests and experts for a discussion of current issues, important research perspectives, and new
approaches or sources in contemporary history.
Before and after the event, questions coming in via Twitter will be continually acknowledged and put forward for
discussion. A live Twitter feed will be displayed on a screen during the event.

Background: Archives in the digital age
Archives are a matter of public interest; their work determines the visibility of history and
how history is written and experienced. Archives in the digital age as well as the research of
the future are transparent and participatory. There will be increasing cooperation between
archives and researchers, involving different societal groups in their work and in the making
of history.
Archives and their methods of collecting, recording, and categorizing materials are closely intertwined
with political, economic, cultural, social, scientific, and technological developments. Collecting, selecting,
classifying, using and making accessible historical sources are determined by many decisions and contexts.
In the digital age, participatory and transparent forms of collecting and generating data and ways of
presenting historical sources can initiate radically new possibilities for the writing of history. This also
means opening up archives to the broader public and using new forms of communication to get the public
involved in collecting and describing historical sources. It is safe to assume that the collaboration between
archives and researchers as well as between archives and the public will gain in intensity and importance.
Consequently, the responsibility of both archives and researchers will grow dramatically. Their joint work
will increasingly take into account the cultural diversity of historical sources and develop new standards in
terms of inclusion, participation, transparency, and cooperation.
Objectives and questions of the #ForumZLu on
#Archivesforthefuture
The #ForumZLu on #Archivesforthefuture offers a platform for articulating doubts, hopes, fears,
and possibilities, and for renegotiationg the collaboration between archives and researchers as well
as between archives and the public. To this end, a variety of representatives of national, virtual, and
private archives will come together for an exchange of opinions and experiences. Topics to be discussed
include (1) how archives see their role and mission (e.g., accessibility, getting the public involved, etc.),
(2) how digitization processes and virtual archives can help achieve these goals, (3) what obstacles and
opportunities archives see in terms of digitizing their holdings, (4) how a collaboration between archives,
the public, and researchers can support the mutual goals, and (5) how all partners can work together to
make Luxembourg a center for innovative, participatory, and transparent history and historiography.
The #ForumZLu seeks to promote close cooperation between the cultural and academic sectors
in order to generate synergy effects. The event #ForumZLu on #Archivesforthefuture is a first
step towards developing a joint strategy for the future of the archives and historical research in
Luxembourg.
