From micro to macro and back:
a meso bricolage approach to the analysis of transitions
The talk will present a tentative framework to analyse transitions and critical events
during the life course. It attempts to adopt a mixed methods approach to the
complex interactions among levels of analysis (from micro to macro) highlighting
the advantages of integrating methods. It will also make a plea for a meso
institutional level as a crucial way to link micro and macro approaches. Examples
from past projects will be used to put forward this argument more as a bricolage
rather than a fully-fledged analytical framework.
