The Latin American Association presents
Portraying the Undocumented Experience:
An Art Contest
Artwork should depict how the artist perceives the
life of undocumented immigrants in Georgia
Contest is open only to high school students in
Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton and Gwinnett counties, as well as Atlanta Public Schools.
Prizes will be scholarships for students who place first ($2,500), second ($1,000) and third ($500).
Scholarships are to be used to reimburse academic expenses once winner is admitted to a
technical, two-year or four-year higher education institution.
Awards will be given out in mid-June.

Contest Rules:
· Entries must be a two-dimensional drawing or painting in any of the following media:
watercolor, oil, pastels, pencil, ink, acrylic, crayon, charcoal, tempura or chalk. Artwork must
be mounted on cardboard/tagboard and measurements are not to exceed 22” X 28”.
· Each entry must include an essay of up to 500 words in which the artist explains his or
her connection with the undocumented experience.
· The artwork must be entirely the student’s own. No copies are to be entered in
the competition.
· A student may submit ONE entry. The submitted pieces should not be submitted
into another contest.
Some 30 pieces of the best
art will be displayed in a
prominent public venue
during the summer of
2016 to offer the artists
public recognition. First,
second and third place
winners will also be given
the opportunity to tell their
story in a public setting
before a live audience.
