The drawing, art, and depiction of people/animal as
well as the whole nengajo work should be original.
Manga/anime-like, or manga/anime influenced images are fine; however, if they appear very
similar to existing characters and look like they were directly copied from the internet, etc, they will be
considered less original and evaluated accordingly.
Likewise in the originality of artworks, if the overall nengajo design
appears exactly the same or very similar to examples from the internet, they will not be considered
original.
2.
Regarding the image/design of animals.
If the image/design of
animals is universal such as rabbits, horses and monkeys, the drawing of the animal will not affect
evaluation. However, if the image/design of animals, such as dragons, looks too western, points will
be deducted during judging.
3.
Regarding use of woodblock, rubber/potato stamps,
etc.
It is OK to use
original handmade stamps and woodblocks. No store-bought stamps or stamps made by others are
allowed.
