国際協力セミナー
世界人口が70億人を突破し、なおも増え続ける今日。貧困や飢餓など
の課題を解決するには国連や政府の力だけでは不十分であり、企業な
どとの連携の重要性が増しています。飢餓のない世界を目指す国連の
食糧支援機関・国連WFPのナンバー2、エリザベス・ラスムーソン事務局
次長が、グローバル企業や日系企業との連携事例を紹介しながら、連携
がもたらす力や意義について話します。
また、第二部では特に若い世代を対象に、途上国の最前線の現場で
支援活動を率いてきた国連WFPの幹部や、国際協力人材の育成に力を
注ぐ上智大学教授陣が、国際協力の新しい展開と次世代への期待に
ついて語ります。

Joint Seminar
The force of partnerships, hopes for the next generation
With the growing world population now reaching over 7 billion, the United Nations or governments
alone cannot solve the global issues of poverty and hunger. The importance of partnerships with
other actors including the private sector is evermore increasing.
In this special joint seminar, Ms. Elisabeth Rasmusson, Assistant Executive Director of the World
Food Programme (WFP), will give a lecture on the work of WFP to achieve zero hunger, speaking
about the significance of private sector partnership in the international development arena, and
sharing best practices of WFP’s partnerships with global and Japanese private sector companies.
The second half of the session will bring together WFP’s senior staff, including those from the
operational side, and a selected team of Sophia’s academia, to engage in a panel discussion on the
future of international cooperation and hopes for nurturing new talents in the next generation.
