Jan von Holleben, geboren 1977 als Sohn eines Kameramanns und einer Kindertherapeutin, verbrachte einen
Großteil seiner Jugend in einer Kommune in Süddeutschland. Er studierte Sonderpädagogik in Freiburg und
Theorie und Geschichte der Fotografie in Farnham, Großbritannien. In London arbeitete er als Bildbearbeiter
und Art Director. 2006 begann er, selbst professionell als Fotograf tätig zu sein. Sein erstes Buch Träumen vom
Fliegen veröffentlichte er zusammen mit dem Autor Arnold Stadler 2008. Er lebt heute in Berlin und arbeitet
u.a. für Geo, DIE ZEIT, SPIEGEL, NEON Magazin und SZ Magazin. Für seine Arbeiten erhielt er zahlreiche
nationale und internationale Auszeichnungen. Seine Kindersachbücher, in denen er sich spielerisch mit Themen
wie Sexualität, Religion und Hirnforschung auseinandersetzt, sind in mehrere Sprachen übersetzt.

Gençlik yıllarının büyük bir bölümünü Güney Almanya’da bir komünde geçirdi. Freiburg’ta özel pedagoji
eğitimi, İngiltere Farnham’da fotoğraf tarihi ve teorisi eğitimi aldı. Londra’da grafik tasarımcı ve sanat
yönetmeni olarak çalıştı. 2006’da profesyonel fotoğrafçı olarak çalışmaya başladı. Yazar Arnold Stadler ile
birlikte çalıştığı ilk kitabı Träumen vom Fliegen 2008’de yayınlandı. Berlin’de yaşayan Jan von Holleben; Geo,
Die Zeit, Der Spiegel, Neon ve SZ Magazin gibi dergiler için çalışmaktadır. Çalışmaları Almanya’da ve yurt
dışında birçok ödüle layık görülmüştür. Cinsellik, din ve beyin gelişimi gibi konuları eğlenceli bir biçimde
yansıtan kurgu dışı çocuk kitapları birçok dile çevrilmiştir.
Jan von Holleben was born in 1997. His father was a cameraman and his mother a child therapist. He spent most
of his teenage years living in a commune in southern Germany. He studied special education in Freiburg, and the
history and theory of photography in Farnham, England. He worked in London as a photo editor and art director,
and in 2006 he started working as a professional photographer. He published his first book, “Träumen vom
Fliegen” with writer Arnold Stadler. Jan von Holleben lives in Berlin and works for publications such as Geo,
DIE ZEIT, SPIEGEL, NEON Magazin and SZ Magazin. His works have received many awards in Germany and
abroad. His non-fiction books for children, in which he takes an entertaining approach to subjects like sexuality,
religion and brain research, have been translated into many languages.
