Hochschule Luzern in Kooperation mit LUCERNE FESTIVAL
Die Hochschule Luzern – Musik führt in Zusammenarbeit mit LUCERNE FESTIVAL im
Rahmen des Piano Festivals eine internationale Masterclass mit dem weltweit renommierten Pianisten und Pädagogen Robert Levin durch. Studierende aus der Schweiz und
dem Ausland konnten sich um die Teilnahme bewerben und wurden von einer Fachjury
ausgewählt. Im Zentrum des Kurses steht das Klavierrepertoire vom Barock bis zur klassischen Moderne. Zum Abschluss ist ein Rezital mit Studierenden geplant.

Robert Levin
trat in der ganzen Welt als Solist und Kammermusiker auf, seine Soloengagements führten ihn u.a. zu den Sinfonieorchestern von Atlanta, Birmingham,
Detroit, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Toronto, zu den Wiener und Berliner Philharmonikern,
zum Boston Symphony Orchestra und zum Orchestra della Scala Milano, wobei er mit
Dirigenten wie S. Bychkov, Seiji Ozawa, Sir Simon Rattle, Esa-Pekka Salonen und Joseph
Silverstein arbeitete. Auf historischen Tasteninstrumenten trat er mit Ensembles wie der
Academy of Ancient Music, La Chambre Philharmonique, the English Baroque Soloists,
the Handel & Haydn Society, the London Classical Players, the Orchestra of the Age of
Enlightenment, Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique und Philharmonia Baroque
auf, u.a. mit Christopher Hogwood, Emmanuel Krivine, Sir Charles Mackerras, Nicholas
McGegan, Sir Roger Norrington und Sir John Eliot Gardiner.
Als Kammermusiker pflegt er eine langjährige Partnerschaft mit Kim Kashkashian (Viola)
und tritt häufig mit seiner Ehefrau, der Pianistin Ya-Fei Chuang in Duo-Konzerten und mit
Orchester auf. Er treibt weitere Partnerschaften mit dem Cellisten Steven Isserlis und neuerdings mit der Geigerin Hilary Hahn.
Robert Levin ist weltweit bekannt für die Wiederbelebung der klassischen Praxis, Auszierungen und Kadenzen zu improvisieren. Seine Mozart- und Beethoven-Interpretationen gelten
als Meilensteine, sie und zahlreiche weitere Aufnahmen mit Repertoire aus vier Jahrhunderten sind bei Deutsche Grammophon und Decca, bei ECM, Sony classical und anderen Labels dokumentiert, darunter die 5 Klavierkonzerte Beethovens mit Sir John Eliot Gardiner
und zahlreiche Klavierkonzerte Mozarts mit Christopher Hogwood. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit erlangten auch Ergänzungen unvollständiger Werke, besonders die Vervollständigung des Requiems KV 626 und der Grossen Messe in c-Moll von Mozart, die weltweit aufgeführt werden. Levin ist ein passionierter Anwalt zeitgenössischer Musik. Seine Aufnahme
des Gesamtwerks von H. Dutilleux bei ECM zeugt ebenso davon wie die zahlreichen Werke,
die er uraufführte, etwa Joshua Finebergs Veils (2001), John Harbisons Second Sonata
(2003), Yehudi Wyners piano concerto Chiavi in mano (Pulitzer Prize, 2006), Bernard Rands
Preludes (2007), Thomas Oboe Lees Piano Concerto (2007) und Hans Peter Türks Träume
(2012).
Robert Levin studierte Klavier bei Louis Martin und Komposition bei Stefan Wolpe in New
York, er arbeitete mit Nadia Boulanger in Fontainebleau und Paris. Nach Abschluss seiner
Studien wurde er von Rudolf Serkin eingeladen, die Leitung des Theorie-Departements am
Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia zu übernehmen. Nach weiteren Stationen in New
York und Fontaineblau lehrte er von 1986 bis 1993 als Professor für Klavier an der Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg im Breisgau. 1986 wechselte er an die Harvard University, der er bis zu seiner Emeritierung angehörte. Er ist gegenwärtig Gastprofessor an der
Juilliard School, New York.
Neben seiner Konzertlaufbahn ist Robert Levin immer auch als Autor hervorgetreten, insbesondere mit zahlreichen Artikeln zu Mozart. Seine Ergänzungen und aufführungspraktischen Ausführungen sind erschienen bei Bärenreiter, Breitkopf & Härtel, Carus, Peters und
Wiener Urtext Edition; seine Kadenzen zu Mozarts Violinkonzerten wurden von Gidon Kremer mit Nikolaus Harnoncourt und den Wiener Philharmonikern für Deutsche Grammophon aufgenommen und bei Universal Edition publiziert. Bei Henle erschienen seine Kadenzen für Mozarts Konzerte für Flöte, Harfe, Oboe, Fagott und Horn sowie zu Beethovens
Violinkonzert. Seine Rekonstruktion der Bläser-Concertante KV 297b von Mozart wurde bei
den Salzburger Festspielen durch die Wiener Philharmoniker uraufgeführt und seitdem
weltweit gespielt.
Im August 1991 wurde Robert Levins Ergänzung des Mozartschen Requiems von Helmuth
Rilling mit grossem Erfolg erstmals aufgeführt. Seine Ergänzung der Messe in c-Moll KV 427,
ein Auftrag der Carnegie Hall in New York, feierte 2005 Premiere.

Lebenslauf
Marija Bokor wurde 1992 in St. Gallen,
Schweiz in einer Musikerfamilie geboren. Ihr
Vater Robert Bokor ist Dirigent und ihre Mutter Milica Bokor Cellolehrerin.
Ihren ersten Klavierunterricht erhielt sie im
Alter von 5 Jahren in der Klasse von Emma
Friedman, die in der Tradition der russischen
Schule an der Musikschule in St. Gallen unterrichtete. In der Folge ging Marija nach Feldkirch ans Musikkonservatorium, ferner studierte sie 4 Jahre lang in der Privatklasse von
Oliver Schnyder und perfektionierte sich an Meisterkursen bei Leon Fleisher, Robert Levin, Menahem Pressler, Arbo Valdma, Homero Francesch und Hamish Milne. Marija
studiert zurzeit bei Konstantin Lifschitz an der Musikhochschule Luzern.
Siege bei schweizerischen, österreichischen und liechtensteinischen Musikwettbewerben,
brachten erste Engagements zu Solo-Rezitalen und Auftritten mit Orchester in Europa,
den USA, Asien sowie auch in Lateinamerika, u.a. in der Schweiz, Österreich, Deutschland, Liechtenstein, Tschechische Republik, Italien, Ungarn, Kroatien, Serbien, Türkei,
Brasilien, China und den USA. 2008 gewann Marija Bokor den 1. Preis beim Internationalen „Vittoria Caffe Righetti“ Wettbewerb (Italien) und 2009 ebenfalls den 1. Preis beim
Internationalen „Davorin Jenko“ Wettbewerb in der serbischen Hauptstadt Belgrad.
Ihre Konzerte führten sie zu dem Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, dem Kärntner Sinfonieorchester Klagenfurt, dem Orquestra Jazz Sinfonica do Estado de Sao Paolo, dem
Tianjin Symphony Orchestra in China, der Hradec Kralové Philharmonie, dem Cukurova
State Symphony Orchestra, dem Arpeggione Kammerorchester, sowie dem Endless
Mountain Festival Orchestra (USA). Mit einem Klavierkonzert von Mozart gab sie im
Sommer 2011 ihr US-Debüt mit dem Endless Mountain Festival Orchestra unter der Leitung von Stephen Gunzenhauser. Für den Sommer 2015 wurde sie erneut von Maestro
Muhai Tang eingeladen mit dem Tianjin Symphony Orchester in China Mendelssohns 1.
Klavierkonzert zu spielen. Seit Dezember 2013 ist sie Stipendiatin der Migros Kulturprozent-Stiftung.

Marie Rosa Günter, was born 1991 in Braunschweig/Germany. After several years in
the class of Wolfgang Zill, she enrolled in
the early study program of the IFF Hannover where she was pupil of Matti Raekallio
and Jelena Levit. She has been studying in
the class of Bernd Goetzke since 2010 and is
currently pursuing a master ´s degree. It is
certainly no accident that the young pianist
has chosen the Goldberg Variations for her
debut CD- the music of Johann Sebastian
Bach has occupied a central place in her
repertoire since the very beginning. Her
involvement with Bach has been underlined by a first prize of the Bach Competition in
Köthen and her participation at the Leipziger Bachtage and the Würzburg Bach Festival. Other notable awards in her musical career have included a first prize at the Steinway International Competition, the Classical Music prize from the City Münster and
WDR and the first prize at the International Grotrian Steinweg Competition. As a finalist
of the German Music Competition in 2015, the pianist was awarded a scholarship which
includes several concerts in Germany. Marie Rosa Günter also has an intensive commitmet to chamber music, joining cellist Stanislas Kim as prizewinner of the 8th International Swedish Duo Competition and the 12e Concours de Musique de Chambre de
Lyon. The duo´s debut CD, a live recording from Bremen´s Sendesaal featuring works by
Bach, Beethoven and Franck, was released in 2014.

Taiwanese pianist Kathy Tai-Hsuan Lee, as a versatile
performer, has played extensively not only in solo recitals
but has been featured in many chamber music and ensemble performances in her native Taiwan as well as in
Japan, South Korea, France, Spain and the United States.
In May 2015, she was invited to perform at the Medium
Theater of Busan Cultural Center; in addition, she was
awarded the second prize of the Artist Award at the
Busan International Music Festival Concerto Competition.
As a passionate advocate of contemporary music, Kathy
has been featured in the concert series of Midwest Composer's Symposium (November, 2015), Five Friends Master
Series Concert (October, 2014), featuring a set of three
études by guest composer David Rakowski, in addition to
being a member of the IU New Music Ensemble under the
direction of David Dzubay. Since 2006, Kathy has been
actively participating in ensembles of various kinds and collaborating frequently with
fellow musicians, composers and faculty members in Taiwan and the United States. She
was recommended by the National Taiwan Normal University College of Music as an
exchange student to the University of North Texas for abroad musical studies. In 2011,
Kathy had the privilege of touring to China with the highly-acclaimed University of Michigan Symphony Band under Michael Haithcock, giving performances in such venues
as Beijing National Centre for the Performing Arts, Shanghai Grand Theatre and Walt
Disney Hall in Los Angeles. CD releases with the ensemble include Artifacts, Points of
Departure, featuring works by William Bolcom, Michael Daugherty, Frank Ticheli, Kristin
Kuster, Rosanne Etezady and more. Kathy has been involved in the project of researching on the piano music by the French composer Henri Dutilleux and his influences of
French literature and the visual arts. Recent festivals that she has participated on scholarship include Gijon International Piano Festival (Spain), Festival Pablo Casals (France)
and PianoTexas (USA). Her principal teachers have been Karen Shaw, Logan Skelton
and Lina Yeh. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Music degree at Indiana University.

Born in 1994, Ke is currently studying at the Royal Academy
of Music with Professor Christopher Elton in a Master degree.
Most recently, Ke won the first prize in the 18th Concours
International de Piano de la ville de Maisons-Laffitte, in
France. At five years old, Ke Ma won second prize at the
prestigious Xiwangbei piano competition in Beijing and subsequently went on to study with Professor Zhong Hui. In
2006, she began studies with Professor Galina Popova in the
Xinghai Conservatory of Music. After a successful audition
for the Morningside Music Bridge Festival in Canada, she
started to attend masterclasses and gave performances in
Poland and Canada. She has participated in masterclasses
with many great pianists, including Angela Hewitt, Peter
Frankl, Huang-kuan Chen, John Perry, Pascal Devoyon, Joanna MacGregor, Yevgeny Sudbin, Boris Berman, Arie Vardi
and Imogen Cooper. Ke has won several prizes, both external and internal including the
Harriet Cohen Bach Prize, the Harold Craxton Prize and the Masie Lewis Young Artists
Fund, she was also highly commended for the Sternadle Bennett Prize. In 2012 she received 3rd place at the Ettlingen International Piano Competition in Germany. In 2015, she
won the Shenzhen International Piano Concerto Competition in China and later received
the Prince’s Award from the Worshipful Musicians’ Company. The fifth place in the Hastings Piano Concerto Competition in Britain, 2016 Ke has appeared as a soloist with
many different orchestras and conductors including, Christian Ehwald, Daye Lin, Nigel
Wilkinson, Qiyuan Zhu, Uros Lajovic and Brian Wright. She collabrated with some Chinese major orchestras and Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra in Hastings. Later this
year, she is invited to perform with Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra under the
baton of James Blair on 28th September. Besides her solo practice, she also plays a lot
of chamber music. Last year, Ke made her duo debut recital alongside British violist
Timothy Ridout in Wigmore Hall that was supported by Kirckman Concert Society.
Ke is most generously supported by the Leverhulme Trust, the Edward Mandel Bursary,
Mr John Burgess, the Steinway & Sons Scholarship, the Ian Fleming Award from Help
Musician UK Postgraduate Award 2016/2017, the Tillett Trust and Music scholarship
from Liechtenstein Music Academy.

Gunel, born in Baku, Azerbaijan began studying piano at age 7 at
the Bul-Bul School of Music with Tatyana Ryabuha and later with
Yuri Sabayev. She completed a Bachelor of Music in Guildhall
School of Music and Drama with Ronan’Ohora followed by Master’s degree in Music and Music Business Management in the University of Westminster. Gunel won 1st prize in the 2005 All Republic
Competition in Azerbaijan. In 2008, she won 1st prize and the
Audience Prize at the International Piano Competition for Young
Musicians in Enschede, Netherlands. Her interpretation of Haydn’s
B minor Piano Sonata was cited in the Dutch newspaper
NRC.NEXT as one of the best performances of the year. In 2009
she won 2nd prize at the Sheepdrove Piano Competition in Berkshire, UK. Gunel has performed extensively throughout the UK and
Europe. Notable performances include concerts in the UK House of Commons, The Yehudi
Menuhin School, St. Martins in The Field and Barbican Hall in London. Gunel has also performed at the “Les Cabardieses de Pennautier” Piano Festival and “Fete Musicale de la
Foret” Chamber Music Festival in France, concerts in Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw (which
were broadcast live on Dutch National Radio 4), solo recitals in Il Bagno and Huis Bergh
Halls and concerto opportunities with the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra in Stadhalle
Wuppertal and Azerbaijani State Symphony Orchestra in Baku. Recently Gunel gave solo
recitals in the “Brahms Woche” and “Oldenburger Promenade” Chamber Music Festivals in
Germany. Gunel participated in masterclasses with: Dominique Merlet, Paul Lewis,Victor
Rosenbaum, Imogen Cooper, Charles Owen, Dominique Merlet, John O’Connor, Ivaru Ilja,
Richard Goode and Olli Mustonen. Gunel has been a recipient of scholarships and grateful
for the financial support from City of London Corporation Trust, Guildhall School Trust,
Music Students’ Hostel Trust, Leverhulme Trust, Anglo-Azeri Society Trust, The European
Azerbaijani Sociey. She has also gratefully received music awards such as The Else and
Leonard Cross Award, James Gibb Award, Alec Beecheno Bursary and the Kathleen Higginson Piano Prize. In 2015 Gunel has got accepted on the Doctorate of Music programme
at Guildhall School where she is currently studying with Professor Ronan O’Hora. Her supervisors are: Dr. Cormac Newark, Dr. Claire Taylor-Jay and Dr. Razia Sultanova. The title of
her research is “Piano Music of Azerbaijan: the evolution of stylistic originality through
national music identity”. Gunel has a particular interest in the music of J.S. Bach, which

Natasha Roque Alsina wurde 1990 in Paris in eine Musikerfamilie geboren. Nachdem sie mit Einstimmigkeit ihren
«Prix de Perfectionnement» am C.N.R de Saint-Maur-desFossés (conservatoire national régional) erhält, gelingt ihr
2008 der Eintritt ins C.N.S.M.D.P. (Conservatoire national
supérieur de musique de Paris) in die Klasse von Professor
Nicholas Angelich und Frank Braley. Dort erhält sie ihren
Bachelor-Abschluss in den Fächern Klavier und Kammermusik. Im April 2012 besteht Natasha erfolgreich Aufnahmeprüfung an der Musikhochschule Luzern, wo sie ihren
Master bei Professor Konstantin Lifschitz absolviert. Seit
2015 führt sie ihr Studium in diesem Rahmen weiter, nun
im herausragenden Studiengang «Solo Performance».
Natasha spielt bei zahlreichen Gelegenheiten - als Solistin,
mit Orchester oder auch als Kammermusikerin. Konzerte
hat sie in der Schweiz, in Österreich, Deutschland, Italien
und in Frankreich: Festival des nuits pianistiques, Concert
des Lauréats de l'académie Ravel, Festival Marinaro usw., und in Paris am Théâtre du
Chesnay, Théâtre de Maison-Alfort, salle Gaveau, salle Cortot, uvm. Als Solistin mit
Orchester trat sie mit Beethovens erstem Konzert (Saint-Maur Orchester), dem ersten
Konzert von Chopin (in Schenkon mit dem Lucerne Chamber Orchestra), dem dritten
Konzert von Beethoven (in Lille und Aixen-Provence) und dem zweiten Konzert von
Rachmaninoff mit dem LSO (Luzerner Sinfonieorchester) in KKL Luzern auf. Natasha
Roque Alsina erhielt den 1. Preis am Yamaha Wettbewerb, 2. Preis am FNAPEC Wettbewerb, den 3. Preis am «Concours international de Montrond-les-Bains», den 2. Preis am
«Edwin Fisher» Wettbewerb in Luzern und gewann 2013 den 1. Preis vom «Stipendium
Hella Sigrist». Seit 2008 bildet sie ein Duett mit der Geigerin Clémence de Forceville.
Seitdem spielen sie oft zusammen und sind bei berühmten Festivals eingeladen, u.a.:
Festival de la Roque d’Anthéron, Académie de Duo de Lausanne, International musicians Seminar Prussia Cov., ISA Wien. Sie hat das Privileg mit berühmten Lehrern an verschiedenen Meisterkursen zu arbeiten, u.a. mit: Menahem Pressler, Anne Queffelec,

Marina Vasilyeva wurde am 25. Juni
1990 in Nizhny Novgorod (Russland)
geboren. Sie begann im Alter von
sechs Jahren Klavier zu spielen und
erhielt ihren ersten Unterricht bei
Irina und Sergej Nazarov. Noch in
Kindesjahren nahm sie an Wettbewerben teil und wurde bei zahlreichen als Preisträgerin gekrönt. Im
Jahre 2005 begann sie ihr Studium
am Musik-Kollege in ihrer Heimatstadt bei Natalia Fisch und trat 2009
in das dortige Konservatorium in die
Klasse von Bella Altermann ein. 2011 besuchte Marina ein Konzert des ukrainischen Pianisten Konstantin Lifschitz. Nach einem Gespräch mit ihm über die Ausbildung in der
Schweiz, entschied sich die junge Pianistin die Aufnahmeprüfung an der Musikhochschule Luzern zu absolvieren. Das Studium wurde ihr dank eines Stipendiums des Präsidenten der Russischen Föderation ermöglicht. Im September 2012 begann sie in Luzern
zu studieren, erhielt im Juni 2015 ihren Bachelor und befindet sich nun im Master Performance Studium. Parallel zu ihrem Studium tritt sie regelmässig sowohl mit Kammermusikensembles als auch als Solistin auf. Sie hat bei zahlreichen Persönlichkeiten
Meisterkurse erhalten, wie bei Andreas Häfliger, Hämisch Milne, Leon Fleischer, Werner
Bärtschi, Homero Francesch, Alexandar Madzar, Cyprien Katsaris, Konstantin
Sherbakov, Valery Grokhovsky, Ana Chumachenco, Nora Chastain, WenSinn Yang, Jörg
Widmann und Valeriy Sokolov.

Anna Zaychenko was born in 1992 in Moscow. In 2011 Anna
graduated from the Chopin Moscow College and since
2011 she studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory with
Professor Maxim Philippov. She finished her master at the
Hochschule Luzern – Musik with Konstantin Lifschitz in
2016. Currently, she follows a master solo performance
with Konstantin Lifschitz. Anna has received awards such
as the 2nd prize of 13ème concours d'interprétation musicale de Lausanne (2015), Hella Siegrist fonds scolarship
(2014 and 2016) 2nd and audience prize of 15th International Piano Competition Mauro Paolo Monopoli (2012),
2nd prize of 2nd International Piano Competition Luciano
Luciani (2012), winner of 4th International M. Balakirev
Piano Competition (2010), a special prize for youngest
participant in the finals of the International Piano Competition SpazioTeatro89 (2010). She was introduced in the
Book of „Talanted Children of Russia“(2010), winner of Romantic music festival for
young Moscow musicians (2009) and was holder of the scholarship for the talented
youth (2009).

The beginning of Denis Zhdanov’s international performing career with recitals and as a
soloist with orchestra has started after his
first debut recital in Lodz, Poland (2007),
which brought a huge appreciation of the
audience and critics. Denis also took part in
the first and second International Arthur
Rubinstein Piano Festivals in Lodz, Poland
(2008, 2011).
Mr. Zhdanov’s artistic activity includes performances in such well-known concert halls
as a Warsaw Philharmonic, Palau de la Musica de Barcelona, Concert Hall “Estonia” in
Tallin, Auditori de Tenerife, KulturGasteig Munich, Salle Cortot Paris, L’Auditori
Barcelona, Warsaw Concert Studio of Polish Radio, and many others.
Denis Zhdanov has appeared with the following orchestras of the world: the Madrid
Symphony Orchestra, the Valles Symphony (Spain), Orchestra Symphonic de Tenerife,
the Bilbao Symphonic Orchestra, Granada Symphonic Orchestra, the Pomeranian Symphony (Poland), the Ukrainian TV and Radio Orchestra, the Polish Camerata, the Finnish Radio Orchestra, the “Nova Amadeus” Chamber Orchestra (Italy), the Georgian
National Symphony, and the “Simfonia Iuventus” Orchestra (Poland), among others.
Denis started taking his first piano lessons at the age of nine in Ukraine and has already
made significant achievements by his first year of studying; he became the winner of a
regional piano competition while being the youngest participant.
Mr. Zhdanov has won numerous awards at prestigious International Music Competitions
including the 56th International Maria Canals Piano Competition in Barcelona, Spain
(WFIMC, 2010, 1st Prize), the 2nd International Piano Competition “Cherny-Stefanska in
Memoriam” Poznan, Poland (EmCy, 2011, 1st Prize), the 7th International Youth Piano
Competition “Arthur Rubinstein in Memoriam” in Bydgoszcz, Poland (EmCy, 2007, 1st
Prize), the 19th International Piano Competition “Roma-2009: Chopin Prize” (Rome,
Italy,1st Prize) and the 3rd Maj Lind International Piano Competition in Helsinki, Finland
(2012, 2ndPrize).
Denis Zhdanov also recorded a CD with Chopin works for the Anton Rubinstein International Foundation in 2010 and a CD with Sonatas of Padre A. Soler with the Naxos Label
in 2011.
