As we enter the deep into summer (if one can call it that!) it gets busier with different events being organised and some which were already celebrated. Of course the opening of Dhamecha Lohana Centre (DLC) was the highlight. The various updates on the Building (I have now removed the word ‘project’ as inauguration has taken place), announcements and celebrations, articles appear in this bulletin. I have received great help from all the Executive Committee members but particularly from Sandhyaben Gandecha and Ashok Dattani. My Team included Vinod Thakrar, Jeet Rughani, Yatin Dawada and Dinesh Shonchhatra. Many thanks to all the sponsors and contributors to this bulletin. Deenesh Thakerar Editor; LCNL 2014-15 E-mail:[email protected] Constitution Committee Chairperson’s Report In June of this year I reported that the SGM had been adjourned and that it was to be reconvened to have approved and finalised the constitution that was discussed and debated on 13 April 2014. Following this we had a short pre-SGM meeting where many of the prominent members of LCNL attended and gave their views and suggestions. I am very grateful to all those people and their contributions but in particularly one of our exPresident and Constitution chairperson Jayantibhai Tanna (who not only produced a detailed and very helpful set of amendments but also helped me without any hesitation with the document). In addition Balubhai Radia, Shantoobhai Ruparel, Jamandasbhai Raithatha, Kiritbhai Karia, Dhirubhai Pau and many others (and I apologise if I have missed any names) made very valuable contributions. My team consisted of Amratlal Radia, Janubhai Kotecha, Deepak Jatania, Manish Sangani Dinesh Kotecha Vinod Thakrar and Mansukh Raichura. I can now confirm to the Community that the final version of the Constitution is now ready and that the SGM will be called as soon as we can fit in the relevant schedule. On 28th June 2014 we had havan ceremony at our new Dhamecha Lohana Centre (DLC) in South Harrow by Nityanandji Maharaj. On 29th June 2014 DLC was formally inaugurated by the most revered Jeje Shri Dwarkeshlalji Maharajshree together with Dhamecha Parivar, followed by opening ceremonies for the Foyer by Parivar of the Late Shree Ratanshi Morarji Radia, Ground floor by Parivar of Dr Rashiklal Chotalal Kantaria, first Floor by Gokal Parivar, Lower ground floor by Parivar of late shree Vrajlal Gordhandas Pau, Kitchen area by Nagrecha Parivar and Car and the car park by the Gokani Parivar. Our Trustees Narendrabhai Thakrar and Rameshbhai Kantaria were present at this opening and in addition the photographs of the elders of the Chatwani, Madhvani and Bhayani family were displayed in the foyer area as our substantial sponsors. Needless to say I am thankful to all the donors who made it possible for us to in this position. Not forgetting that all members from LCNL, Mahila YLS, RCT, LCF, LSC Men, LSC Ladies and volunteers joined hands to make it possible. I have to specifically thank Deepakbhai Jatania, Pratibhaben Lakhani, Amratlalbhai Radia, Janubhai Kotecha, Manishbhai Sangani, Pradipbhai Dhamecha and Deeneshbhai Thakerar for taking the lead in masterminding the opening event in such a short period of time. We also have to thank Shashikantbhai Vakeria and the whole team from Vascroft builders for working closely with us in completing the building works in good time. In terms of project management I convey our sincere thanks to Bhaveshbhai Radia, Vimalbhai Pau, Amratlalbhai Radia with Pradipbhai Dhamecha who have done a wonderful job. Amongst our objective witnesses we had the presence and blessings of CB Patel, Ramnikbhai Solanki and Zee TV our Media partners as also the Mayor of Harrow, his worshipful Ajay Maru with other dignitaries to grace our function. Our caterers Meera Catering have to be truly thanked as they flew back from Italy to oversee the catering for the two days. The guidance from Councillor Rekhaben Shah and Navinbhai Shah has been very useful on this project. We also had help from sound engineers, security staff and numerous volunteers. This has to be without doubt, the most exciting couple of days for each one of us for making this history for Lohana’s in the recent times. DLC is now operational and we have already started to take bookings for Weddings, Parties, and Bhajans. Recently most of the large LCNL’s programmes have been held at DLC and will continue to do so. This will serve our community in bringing our members closer. On the other matters I report as below Young Lohana society is progressing well; they now have their own membership of 150 (aged 18-35) which is commendable achievement in a short time. New committee members replacing the old have jelled very well. I am positive that the current team will be strongly established by end of March 2015.The team work side by side with all the operating committees which is very encouraging. We intend to have an SGM for finalisation of our constitution at the earliest possible opportunity following a consultative meeting with some of the Past Presidents and members interested in the constitution matters. We covered and discussed all the areas identified by the members. www.lcnl.org 6 LCNL N-E 23AUG-14:Layout 1 26/08/2014 14:30 Page 7 Our Mahila committee is doing an exceptionally good job in serving the community, I have had some very good positive feed back on their Mini Yatra and Shiv Pooja recently at RCT.I am thankful to the team for working closely with all LCNL’s operating bodies . Our senior ladies Health program at RCT was very educational .I am sure our members will benefit by attending all the events of this nature in near future. I was asked to conduct the election of our senior men’s social centre on 16th July2014 .The three senior officers are Chairman, Chandubhai Rughani, Secretary, Kantibhai Hindocha and Treasurer, Kantibhai Kakad .Members of this Social Centre meet three times a week who thoroughly enjoy the service provided. The whole team must be congratulated .I also want to congratulate Rajbhai Saujani for being elected RCT chairperson on 13th July 2014 We have taken on a challenge of creating an electronic members directory with a search facility. Our, IT team will be in touch with the members very shortly by e-mail. Members will be required to update one’s own data. Your data will be secured by password created by yourselves. IT members will have a help desk to assist members in submitting their information. I am positive that this database will be very useful in communicating with he members. Social team has been busy. Janak Dulhari Natak on 27th July was very creative and worth watching for all the age groups. We must thank Madhuben and Kishorebhai Somani together with their Vaisnav Sang for sponsoring and working with LCNL in celebrating Jiji Indira betiji’s 75th birthday with us at DLC. We are equally thankful to Ketanbhai and Ditiben Kotecha for sponsoring our Janmashtami event for many years. We had a wonderful celebration on 17th August 2014 at DLC; we have had some very good feed back from the members for our first Janmashtami at DLC I want to thank all the members for their generous donations to date but the fundraising process has to continue. we still need funds for current and future refurbishment and also for the equipment. I once again would humbly urge you all to continue with your generosity and make our Lohana Centre even an even a better place. Bereavement committee have started using our DLC for Samuh prathna in serving our community during the times of the need and they do a worthwhile job for the community. We are now planning our next big event of Navratri from 25th September 2014 to 3rd October 2014 which will be exiting as our DLC venue is at a close proximity to the membership, hence, we expect more members to celebrate. Our business and Professional event is also at DLC on 16th September 2014.This programme is planned to be in a different format. I am positive that our members will enjoy networking with fellow members. Our Jalaram Jayanti event on 30th October will be at DLC which has been sponsored by the family of Late Shree Dwarkadasbhai and Late Shrimati Nimuben Kotecha for many years. We will look at Chopda Poojan ceremony to be held at DLC with meet & greet on 23/10/2014 and then we plan to have our first Diwali celebration at DLC in a grand style on 15 November 2014. I am thankful to all the Mahajan’s members for encouraging me and the executive committee and from my side, I Intend to serve the community to best of my ability. There is so much that has happened in this short period and continues to happen that I never have time to catch my breath. The constant meetings, planning attendances functions correspondence etc. is never ending but at the same time very interesting challenging and exciting. The opening of the DLC on 28 and 29 June 2014 was the highlight and the whole community received it very well. In July we thoroughly enjoyed the “Janak Dulari” dance drama depicted the life of Sitaji. I thoroughly recommend this to anyone and I believe the next show in November 2014 is at the Logan Hall in London. I early August we attended the Shiv Rudraabhishek organised wonderfully by the Mahilas as they did the haveli walk and other events. I was also privileged to attend the Senior Men’s lunch which our President Vinod Thakrar hosted as per traditional “parampara” Then of course not forgetting the Jiji event in July which was again thoroughly enjoyed by al all and well organised with the Somani family and under the leadership of our capable Pratibhaben Lakhani. The Building as you all know is now open and occupied but still needs to be completed in certain respects and for that purpose the fund raising activities still continue and your support is necessary so that as Deepak Jatania says in their report that it can be unencumbered. The YLS as usual are bringing in youthful energy not only in meetings and events but also at the Executive Committee level where their attendance and participation is excellent. So I congratulate them on these achievements and wish them well for the future. Our Social team headed by Vishal Sodha is doing very well and were instrumental in hosting the Krishna Janmastmi programme in conjunction with Ketanbhai Ramniklal Kotecha and family to whom we are grateful. On that note the other Kotecha family that is always at the forefront is that of the late Dwarkadasbhai and Nimuben and the family have carried on this legacy by sponsoring the Jalaram Jayanti celebrations on 30 October 2014. All the other bodies like Senior Men and ladies, sports, Media, membership, family guidance and RCT are doing very well in their own right and they have provided us with their reports as appropriate and these are printed in this issue. Needless to say that we have had a further meeting for the discussion of the constitution and that is just about to be finalised. Further details appear in my report as the constitution chairperson. On the administrative side I can confirm that we are as usual dealing with all correspondence and communication and have also recently written to Shri Narendra Modi congratulating him in his capacity as a Gujarati leader who has done so well and made us proud here in the UK. I end this report by thanking all the sponsors advertisers and supporter in whatever way they have helped in the progress of our community Jai Sri Krishna Deenesh Thakerar Hon. During the years 2009-2010 when Pratibhaben was President the concept of having a building with the blessings of our Vadil and the support of the whole Executive Committee was conceived and this led to the reality that we all experienced. Both of us were given the task of fulfilling the “Opening Ceremony” of the Centre and we were delighted and honoured to have been given this responsibility to ensure that all goes according to the expectations. The Ceremony began with the welcoming of guests and donors on Saturday with Havan, Pooja, and Bhajans etc. Sunday was the prime day of the Ceremony. Fortunately the weather was in our favour which allowed us to carry out a procession in proper traditional and religious style with "dhol" player and our singing and dancing. First and foremost, we were privileged to have the presence of Shree Shasthpithadishwar Goswami 108 Shree Dwarkeshlalji Maharajshree. The opening of the centre by Pujya JeJe, created a truly divine atmosphere. The Pravachan that he gave was inspirational and his blessings have undoubtedly secured the future of our progress and service to the community. We congratulate the LCNL President for mobilising various fraternities of LCNL namely Mahilas, YLS, RCT, Senior Ladies, Senior Men, LCF Trustees, and volunteers to assist us in various tasks. Each and every volunteer, committee member fulfilled their tasks ranging from the car park, kitchen, hall and decoration with smiles and enthusiasm in abundance. With this co-operation and sincerity, there is no reason why the Community cannot move forward from strength to strength. We were really pleased that all the Mahilas participated enthusiastically and were actively involved in "Sthapna and stage decoration", the "havan" ceremony, processions and welcoming with appropriate singing & greet with a smile. We would like to thank all our major Donors for their generous contributions towards the building. Last but not the least, Pradeepbhai Dhamecha and Pariwar have been instrumental in all aspects of this project. Our sincere thanks and gratitude for their unconditional generosity, co-operation, support and always willing attitude. Some of the membership benefits are listed below: Have a say in how the community is run Involvement in the community’s religious and social and cultural events Play a hands-on role in helping the community Receive e-newsletters, publications, news and events and members directory Membership application can be made through the LCNL website or by contacting me on [email protected] or telephone me on 07815 438 262. The attendances and participation has been formidable. The Business & Professional Seminar was established to provide a Platform for LCNL members to expand their network, share ideas and gain valuable insights through the introduction of external speakers and organisations. Thus with the sponsors as well as with the speakers we continue to introduce the most pertinent individuals from within and without the community ensuring that the event offers diverse benefits for all involved. As always, the price of the ticket covers the costs of the event and therefore the community members and attendees to gain the best value for money. Additional benefits are gained from our sponsors who this year are Plurimi Wealth LLP. We are grateful for contribution. My sincere thanks to all the LCNL committee and to all LCNL members for their continued support throughout the last 10 years, We are now delighted to invite you to the 1st event of its kind to be held at the Dhamecha Lohana Centre on the 16th September 2014 for this year's event which is a dinner. For any further information do not hesitate to contact us. Deepak Jatania LCNL - Sports Report The annual LNCL golf tournament was held at the Essendon Country Club in Hatfield on Monday 21 July 2014. The event proved to be more successful than last year with 77 golfers who took part on the day The whole day proved to be an immense success with all participants enjoying not only the golf but also the BBQ in the evening. Can I start by thanking all of the participants without who there would have been no golf day and also a thank you to those that attended the BBQ in the evening. Can I also Club 2000 who provided the food for the BBQ in the evening. Judging by the feedback that we have received, everyone who attended loved the venue and the food. Our main sponsor for the event this year was Metro Bank to whom we are very grateful for their support and for providing various goods to the participants. Again, we were able to acquire a number of sponsors for the event and can I thank them all for the generosity that they showed in sponsoring our event. The sponsors for the holes were:, Sterling Accountants, Harold Benjamin, Santok Group (who sponsored 2 holes), Harrow Service Centre, Sharplink, Newland Manor, Simple Food, SME Europe, Handsdale Limited, Westminster Home, Kanta Group, Major Estates, Arkay Windows, Bowling & Co and Circleresidential.com. It's a virus that attacks a person’s blood system: Ebola is what scientists call a hemorrhagic fever - it operates by making its victims bleed from almost anywhere on their body. Usually victims bleed to death. Ebola is highly contagious; Being transmitted via contact with body fluids such as blood, sweat, saliva, semen or other body discharges. Ebola is however NOT AN AIRBORNE VIRUS! EXTREMELY deadly: About 90% of people that catch Ebola will die from it. It's one of the deadliest diseases in the world, killing in just a few weeks. Untreatable(no cure): Ebola has no known treatment or cure. Victims are usually treated for symptoms with the faint hope that they recover. How Do I Know Someone has Ebola? •Fever •Headache •Diarrhoea •Vomiting •Weakness •Joint Muscle pains •Stomach Pain •Lack of Appetite Protect Yourself: •Wash Your Hands with Soap Do this a lot.
