Frontend developer – Zalando SE
I wrote my bachelor thesis at Zalando in December 2013 by
co-developing an application, developed with Spring MVC
framework. Main objective of the project was to cut time spent
by semi-automating preparation for test data. At the time I
was responsible for front-end side of the application
development, which introduced myself to HTML, CSS and
JavaScript.
My journey as a student employee at Zalando continued after
I had finished my bachelor’s degree. There was an
opportunity for me to learn more about software engineering
started by Radical Agility, a change in Zalando’s tech culture
which enabled teams and its team members to have
autonomies in software development. Knowing that my
passion is in front-end development, I pursued the focus in
this area so I could support my team.
It led to a brand new project for a warehouse in
Mönchengladbach, building a web application for self-service
terminal. This application enables new employees so that they
can register themselves as opposed to conventional way
where registration process involved lots of parties and took
weeks to accomplish. This project is now live and could save
cost and time spent by the company.
Working on this project was a great experience where I could
collaborate with the warehouse operation team and corporate
designer. I took responsibility for managing project
communication between teams and developing application’s
front-end. The web application is deployed on Amazon Web
Services, therefore it can be used by more than one
warehouses in upcoming implementations.

Software Test Automation - Zalando SE
After I had finished my internship at Zalando in manual
software testing, I received a position as student employee for
software test automation. Basic terms and practices in
logistics department I have gained during my internship really
helped my activities in writing acceptance test scenarios for
test automation.
Daily activities included writing Java codes for test scenarios
run with Cucumber, which then run and tested with Selenium
WebDriver. Written scenarios for diverse logistics processes
were used with Jenkins, a software for Continuous Delivery.

Intern
Manual Software Testing – Zalando SE
I worked together with my colleagues at Zalando in smart
logistics department. During my internship, I have learned
how to do manual software testing in each software release
cycle for logistics processes such as handling arriving and
outgoing goods. Thanks to this internship opportunity, I have
gained basic SQL skills by using PostgreSQL in my daily
intern activities.
