Introduction:
Today one of the most useful Micro-controller between the engineers is AVR’s series that has
introduced by Atmel
AVR’s are so simple to start and needs some information about programming and hardware to run
them
After Programmer person writes the program need’s a system to write the hex code from PC to the
AVR’s and and called Programmer , one of the most famous programmer are STK500 which is quite
compatible with most of compilers such as Code-vision , Bascom , AVR studio , AVR-GCC etc.
Now we introduce our AVR STK500 programmer to use for all the engineers , students and all the
other persons which is interesting in AVR

Install driver:
First plug the STK500 by USB cable to the USB port , also at least use back USB port’s and do not use
fron USB port’s
After plugging PC will show this massages
Now right click on the My computer and chose properties and click on the Device manager
Right click on the STK500-V2.0 and chose Update driver software and then click on the brows my
computer

Then brows and go to the Driver document in the CD and chose correct driver , XP/7 32 bit for 32bits OS and 7-64bits for 64bit’s OS
Then click install this software anyway
Await to install completely drvier

If everything be OK driver has been install correctly , then go to device manager and memory Com
port number , for example in here is COM8
Port number is different in each PC and just remind this number which will use in next stage

How to program with Bascom:
First open Bascom and chose Options and go programmer , then in programmer list click STK500
Native driver and put the COM port number that before reminded
Then click on OK
To use different package you have to follow as below table to place chips correctly in ZIF socket
After placing an AVR in ZIF or ISP port click F7

From Chip menu click Indentify and if everything be OK you must watch the part number in the
massages table
If you placed AVR incorrectly in the ZIF , you will show warning such as CHIP ID:FFFFF
You can use auto program to do all the Erase , Write , Verify in just one step

How to program with Code-vision:
First open Code-vision and then go to programmer setting and chose ATMEL STK500/AVRISP and
place the reminded port number in the Communication port
Now go to tools and Programmer to open this window
Place AVR correctly in the ZIF socket

After placing AVR in ZIF go to read menu and click on signature , if everything be OK you will show
the part number of your AVR
If you placed incorrectly AVR in the ZIF you will show this massage

To use in-system-programming first plug in IDC port and then connect correctly to the ISP port of
your Development board etc.

The product to use advantage of guarantee has not this spec:
1:anu abuse with ZIF socket or use in bad situations
2:any mistake in hardware
3:problems in the own windows (such as virus)
