despite the first clinical trials of mesenchymal stromal
cells (MSCs) occurred more than 20 years ago, we are
still only beginning to grasp their therapeutic potential. To
reflect the vast array of MSC therapeutic research, MiSOT
2016 will invite experts from the fields of solid organ
transplantation, regenerative medicine and immune therapy to discuss the application of MSCs to combat organ
rejection, to support tissue repair and to treat immunological disorders including cardiovascular disease, ARDS and
sepsis. MiSOT 2016 will also showcase advancements
in utilizing MSCs to reduce organ injury throughout the
transplantation process, for example ischemic injury,
mechanical reperfusion and reduction of fibrosis.
