Such a flexible ensemble provides the opportunity to present a repertoire that comprehends works of nearly all stylistic eras. On the other hand it enables the choir to specialize in the elaboration of rhetorical and affective intentions of the so-called ancient music. The Bach – Chor Siegen gives concerts at home and abroad. Performances led the choir to England, France, Israel, Italy, Benelux and Russia. Furthermore it is invited to renowned festivals such as “Rheingau Festival”, ”Thüringer Bach – Wochen”, “Telemann – Festival Magdeburg”, “Händel- Festspiele Halle”, “MDR Musiksommer” as well as to regular performances in the Thomaskirche Leipzig and Frauenkirche Dresden. It also takes regularly part in the series of concerts “Das Meisterwerk” in the Kölner Philharmonie. The Bach-Chor Siegen carries out music productions at radio stations like WDR, HR,DLF etc. The establishment of demanding, international CD series (Hänssler classic) completes the image of the choir. The director of church music Ulrich Stötzel studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main and took the state examination as an AChurch musician. Postgraduated studies in the masterclasses of Edgar Krapp and Helmuth Rilling completed his musical instruction and led to the concert exam for organ and the diploma for choir conducting. Stoetzel`s special interest in the baroque doctrine of figures and affections brought him together with distinguished interpreters of ancient music . Already during his study period he began building up the diversified and extensive work with the later Bach – Chor in Siegen , which is now among the most prominent ensembles in North Rhine-Westphalia, a State of Germany.
