TANZHAUS NRW_WHO WE ARE
EN The tanzhaus nrw, located in a former tram depot and providing two stages and eight dance
and rehearsal studios, is an international centre for contemporary dance. On 4.000 square metres
it is a performance and production venue as well as an academy with 3.700 weekly visitors. More
than 200 performances are shown during the year, following different programme outlines within
festivals, thematically motivated series, international guest performances and experimental or
informal platforms. Since the season of 2014/15 under the artistic direction of Bettina Masuch the
house seeks for a more intensive collaboration with artists, amongst others with the factory
artists Alexandra Waierstall, Sebastian Matthias and Jan Martens. Other profile shaping activities
of the house belong to the Junges Tanzhaus, developing dance for and with a young audience.
The tanzhaus nrw is also responsible for projects such as Take-off: Junger Tanz as well as the
International Dance Artist Service (iDAS) and is a partner of international networks like European
Dancehouse Network (EDN) and Shifting Realities – Transcontinental choreographic exchange
2015 – 2017. The tanzhaus nrw is also part of the Alliance of the International production
houses, supported by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, in which
for the first time seven production centres of the Performing Arts in Germany are in an intensive
exchange.
DE Das tanzhaus nrw, ansässig in einem ehemaligen Straßenbahndepot, ist mit zwei Bühnen und
acht Tanz- und Probenstudios ein internationales Zentrum für zeitgenössischen Tanz. Auf 4.000
Quadratmetern Fläche ist es zugleich Spiel- und Produktionsort sowie Akademie mit 3.700
Besuchern wöchentlich. Der ganzjährige Spielbetrieb mit mehr als 200 wechselnden Aufführungen
folgt verschiedenen Programmlinien in Festivals, thematisch motivierten Reihen, internationalen
Gastspielen und experimentellen Plattformen. Seit der Spielzeit 2014/15 unter Leitung von Bettina
Masuch, hat das Haus u.a. mit den Factory Artists Alexandra Waierstall, Sebastian Matthias und
Jan Martens die intensivere Zusammenarbeit mit Choreografen begonnen. Auch das Junge Tanzhaus, dessen Arbeit sich an ein junges Publikum richtet, zählt zu den profilbildenden Aktivitäten
des Hauses.
Das tanzhaus nrw ist Träger von Projekten wie Take-off: junger Tanz und dem International Dance
Artist Service (iDAS) und maßgeblicher Partner verschiedener internationaler Netzwerke wie dem
Europäischen Tanzhäuser-Netzwerk EDN und Shifting Realities – Deutsch-afrikanischer
Choreografen-Austausch 2015 – 2017. Das tanzhaus nrw ist darüber hinaus Teil des Bündnisses
Internationaler Produktionshäuser, gefördert von der Beauftragten der Bundesregierung für
Kultur und Medien, in dem sieben Produktionszentren der freien zeitgenössischen darstellenden
Kunst in Deutschland erstmals eng zusammenarbeiten.
