Beschreibung
The Institute for Materials Science / Chair for Materials Physics is offering a full-time position,
beginning November 1st, 2016, as Group Leader - “Functional Thin Films”
This position will be compensated conform with civil service grade TVL-E13 and is temporary in
compliance with the regulations of German scientific fixed-term contract law.
We are searching for a PhD physicist or material scientist to establish a work group. The future
research should be focused on deposition, modification and characterization of thin functional
layers (e.g. magnetic or electronic active materials, optical or chemical sensors, thin-film batteries,
hard coatings). The position offers the opportunity to acquire a formal qualification as a university
teacher (Habilitation). The chair for Materials Physics has an efficient infrastructure in place. The
future incumbent will be responsible for the transmission electron microscopy of the chair.
Profound expertise in thin film deposition and/or electron microscopy is desired, the motivation to
gain sufficient knowledge of the German language is expected.
