Einige Schweizer Freiwilligeneinsätze sind bereits Geschichte. Im Tessin in Cavergno ist mit der
Fondazione Valle Bavona ein neues Workcamp durchgeführt worden, das in Zusammenarbeit
mit den European Heritage Volunteers das Tessiner Kulturerbe im Visier hatte. In Heiligkreuz
(VS) im Binntal wurden Wege entbuscht, in Fontana Passugg der Hotel Park verschönert und
ein Arbeitseinsatz zusammen mit der Genossenschaft, dem Bündner Gehörlosen- und
Hilfsverein durchgeführt.
Workcamp Switzerland stellt dieses Jahr 140 Plätze für internationale Freiwillige in unseren
Schweizer Projekten zur Verfügung, so viele wie noch nie. Volunteers aus 35 Nationen
engagieren sich in unseren gemeinnützigen Projekten in allen Sprachregionen der Schweiz.
Als Pilotprojekt platzieren wir zum ersten Mal auch Asylsuchende in unsere Schweizer Projekte.
Bereits haben die ersten ihren Einsatz auf dem Birchhof in Oberwil-Lieli (AG), in Essertfallon
(JU) und in einem Sprachcamp für Jugendliche in Schwarzsee (FR) begonnen.
Für Weltentdecker vermitteln wir auch dieses Jahr Projekte in Europa und Übersee, seien es
Teenagercamps, Familiencamps, normale Workcamps oder auch Langzeiteinsätze im sozialen,
ökologischen oder kulturellen Bereich. Schlösser und Burgen in Frankreich oder der Slowakei,
Ferienaktivitäten in England und Russland oder Umweltprojekte in Island und Italien, um nur

SOMMER WORKCAMP HIGHLIGHTS
BELLA ITALIA – PARCO LAVINO CAMP 08. – 22. August 2016
The Workcamp will support the restoration and conservation of the area of Sulphureous
Sources of the Lavino River and the Mill, within the national campaign “Save the Art”. The
main actions will be dedicated to the restoration of the Mill, to the cleaning of some features of
the paths more attended by the tourists, to the maintenance of the equipped areas, to the
cleaning of the contiguous area to the ancient flour mill. Volunteers will stay in a guesthouse
near the Equipped Park. Scafa is a lovely small village in Abruzzo, near Pescara about 170 Km
from Rome.
VIVA PORTUGAL – TERRA COTA PATRIMONY - 29. August bis 09. September 2016
Learn and repair traditional lime plasters and paintings; Learn and experience about traditional
handmade fired and raw earth brick production, clay preparation and application; Repair
traditional terracotta brick structures; Learn about and repair rammed earth structures; Act to
preserve raw earth plasters; Take part into a social inventory about a particular neighbourhood
and public space needs to prepare future interventions. Bedrooms in a hostel style with shared
kitchen and bathroom.
SECRET ESTONIA – ALLIKSAARE FARM - 05. – 30. September 2016
Alliksaare Farm main direction is cattle and milk farming. The main work will be to take care
and maintain the pastures located by the sea (clearing around the pastures, building or
removing fences, repairing fences). Another work is cleaning the coast nearby the farm from
rubbish brought by storms. Occasionally there can be some work for preparing food for cows
for winter time. Also there will be a need to help the host milking the cows as it has to be done
two times per day. The accommodation conditions are very simple in caravans, however beds

are provided. Food will be provided from local farms nearby. Volunteers will be served food
cooked by locals for lunches during the week days otherwise it has to be cooked by the
volunteers.
WORKCAMPS AUF EINEM ANDEREN KONTINENT
JAPAN – KITAKYUSHU – 15. bis 28. August 2016
Since 2007, this local group runs a summer kids camp every year with local college students
for around 30 kids in age from 8 to 15. Children will play, cook and live in nature in order for
them to learn independence, sensitivity, group cooperation, and to have global understanding
and interest in different cultures. Volunteers need to be prepared to spend 24 hours with the
kids for this period (except for a few days off).
We will help out and live together with kids, supporting activities and sharing our culture.
Kitakyushu city is located in the northern part of Fukuoka prefecture, famous for beautiful
nature like as calcareous cave. The closest International airport is in Fukuoka.
MEXICO – SEA TURTLES CONSERVATION – 24. August bis 05. September 2016
The aim of these projects is to protect sea turtles with a team of biologists. If you love nature,
want to have a great time in beautiful beaches near the village and witness the magic
spectacle of nature happenings since millions of years... then this project is for you! The main
job is to patrol the beach at night. Some of the activities to be performed are: 1. To find adult
turtles and collect their eggs. 2. To move the eggs to a protected place called Vivero. 3. To
release newborn baby turtles into the sea. 4. To patrol the beaches at night. 5. To make some
reconstruction in the most important turtle camps from the region. Accommodation is in a
hotel in a shared room with all facilities at disposal. Rincon de Guayabitos, Nayarit, Mexico,
located in the imposing Sierra Madre Occidental and bathed by the waters of the Pacific Ocean.
Workcamp-Fest 2016
Ein internationales Food Buffet und weitere Überraschungen erwarten Dich. Dieses Jahr richtet
Workcamp Switzerland zusammen mit dem Perma-Oasis-Projekt ein Workcamp-Fest im
Gästehaus „Im Sonnenbühl“ auf dem Uetliberg bei Zürich aus. Das Fest findet am Freitagabend
9. September ab 18 Uhr statt. Die offizielle Einladung folgt gegen Ende August. – Halt Dir
schon einmal das Datum frei.
Euch allen wünschen wir weiterhin einen in jeder Hinsicht „heissen“ Sommer. Wir würden uns
freuen euch an einem der öffentlichen Anlässe von Workcamp Switzerland oder in unserem
Büro an der Ankerstrasse 24 begrüssen zu dürfen.
